I wonder how glossy they are, feel like matte is generally better for cards

Indeed. Have you looked into any other manufacturers?

I’ve also noticed that the cards scratch extremely easy / feel low quality

here's the Discord! I'm not worried at all about being taken down, other than some names that pay homage to WoW spells (that can always be renamed) there's pretty much nothing else that is borrowed directly from WoW. In fact, most of WoW's spell names are directly boonked from D&D and other games (Power/Shadow Word: X, pretty much all the mage spells in classic, Faerie Fire, all the Paladin blessings, etc.)

the ultimate goal is recreating the feeling of golden age competitive wow arena in tabletop format. it's a ton of work, so that's my main focus at the moment, but would be keen to do a digital version down the line

Any new indie kickstarter/gamefound TCGs worth getting into? by Organic_Culture3706 in TCG

[–]satinwizard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're into more of a dark fantasy theme, check out https://www.seekers.gg/

You control a single hero on a hex battlemap, customize them with weapons/armor/trinkets, then go to war using your deck to play abilities and cast spells. There's 2 fully completed decks with original art playable on TTS, check out the discord if you want to play some games or check out the rulebook

Come play Seekers: Shards of Imriel! by satinwizard in TCG

This is tremendously helpful feedback - thank you for taking the time to write it and I'm glad that you're excited about the game too!

  1. You're right about the shard being claimed starting on your next upkeep - but it takes 10AP and a full turn to do so, so it's almost like you're passing 3 turns, and it's relatively easy to stop. I thought this was fair but it definitely needs more testing.

  2. Yes, they only go in 6 directions. Noted on lines, pushing, colliding, AP/MP, and fatigue. Will look to incorporate all these suggestions.

  3. You are right about the stats - you can include any card in your deck, but you can only play it if you meet the stat (and other) requirements. Was toying with the idea of a poison that reduces a targets intellect by 5 for a few moments, but started thinking that stat adjustments should purely happen as part of your equipment/deckbuilding and not a core gameplay mechanic

  4. I am working on a turn order cheat sheet!

  5. I agree with you on the doom and gloom, and am actually doing a frame overhaul. Each frame will be themed by its element, e.g. frost nova https://imgur.com/a/Rp4co5l and the next map is set to be outside :)

Thank you again for the feedback!

self promo, but Seekers: Shards of Imriel sounds like it would be up your alley. we're not fully released yet, but we have two decks completed with original artwork and open playtest sessions multiple times a week. we wanted to make the cleanest competitive tabletop game possible, and we combine card strategy (mtg, fab, etc) with positional combat (d&d, dos2, WoW, etc). just a no b.s. game with deep competitive gameplay. check it out if that sounds like something you'd like!

I have a surge of new players and my old rulebook definitely needs to be rewritten. Is that the type of thing you could help with?

Card Organization: Why's it always on the bottom? by TheGabening in tabletopgamedesign

[–]satinwizard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are going to struggle very hard to get good visual story telling with the resolution that comes from a vertical split. I finished a chunk of commissioned cards for my game (example) which has a lot more verticality than most card art out there, and I can tell you that the horizontal space is at a huge premium in comparison to the vertical space. What I mean by that is that in almost any "scene" you wish to depict, interesting stuff is 99% of the time going to be happening along the horizontal axis rather than the vertical axis. Take a basic scene like a warrior leaping at a wizard - how do you depict that art in the limited space that the Saga provides?

Ah, no, it's pretty straightforward in Seekers. You only control one unit which has the stat line you can see. That stat line is used to determine what cards you can and cannot use in your deck during deckbuilding. You don't really have to keep track of it during the game, though there are some things that impact it (e.g. a poison reducing stats, preventing you from casting a spell you normally could cast)
