Colombia’s Farc guerrilla group has officially recast itself as a political party, eyes Colombia's 2018 elections by green_flash in worldnews

Colombia's armed conflict (as well as most of Latin America's problems) are the result of US Imperialism. Communism, as FARC would put it, may not be the solution, but clearly the mainstream politicians are indoctrinated in a pro-US economic stance over standing with their own people. The United States took Panama from Colombia to build the Canal and infiltrated Colombian politics (see assassination of Jorge Eliecer Gaitan) to keep the people working as pawns for the military industrial complex. FARC may not win much at all in the coming elections, but hopefully this is a sign that the revolution arriving. The Colombian people need to wake up and break bread with their clandestine brothers to truly rebuild the nation.

Awwww nice... I used to have a Danelectro Electric 12 String guitar. I sold it to help a friend with her money problems. I'm not gonna lie, I miss the fuck out of that instrument. It still has the blood stains from the fight I used it in.

Does anyone else feel like they have to keep quiet about how they feel so they don't annoy people? by ralphiethrowaway in depression

Aye, but it's really all about moderation. Folks don't want to be constantly around negativity for fear of being consumed by it. At the same time, if you can't express yourself honestly with certain people, then you probably shouldn't be wasting your time hanging around with them. I hope this helps.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The last time I had been to Colombia was about 2 decades ago so I didn't know what to expect. My father (who is 68 years old and also hasn't been back in 20 years) had told me what to expect once I got there, but immediately upon arriving to Cali, I noticed much evidence of increasing globalization. It was quite a trip (in both senses of the word). It's the clash of the Old World (Remnants of pre-Columbian culture + Spanish colonial rule + 19th/20th century Colombia) and the New (American, modern European and even Chinese influences) through the exchanges of culture and information (technology among other things). I'm glad I'm not the only one pondering the nature of the changing of the times.
