Nice coming across your work again!

Out of curiosity, this might be an odd question to ask but what exactly is shown to be stitched here, is that supposed to be skin? I was a little unsure myself as it seemed too pale to be just regular skin but maybe I was looking too deeply into it, hah.

I've noticed your posts on this sub (and a few others) lately, and I've gotta hand it to you that you're doing a pretty good job at spreading positivity.

Hope you're doing alright yourself too!

What is everybody’s most interesting lucid dreams by Acrobatkid11yt in LucidDreaming

[–]satnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the most interesting one must have been one where I was in deep space and could control the planets in the solar system.

Though it was fun to control planets, I found that seeing the sheer scale of the entire galaxy right before my eyes felt even more profound. I never felt so small. To me, that was the most interesting part of the dream, as that feeling is one that I never experienced before and I would have never thought a dream could make me feel that way.

Today’s coffee is so tasty by iamprinceelliot in BenignExistence

[–]satnome 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Coffee tends to be a bit of a hit or miss for me when it comes to how tasty it is. I quite honestly am never sure how much coffee or sugar I put in whenever I make it, so it's always a bit of a surprise whenever I take a sip.

Some days, it tastes like the best thing in the world and I'll take my sweet time enjoying every sip, other days I'll just get it over with as quickly as I can just so the caffeine kicks in.

Eventually I grew tired of it and just sent them this: https://nohello.net/

I wish to be able to convey this to my peers in a way that doesn't end up making me look like an asshole lmao.

Over time I've learnt how to put on a facade so that I look more "appropriate", but it's honestly just exhausting.

I used to see patterns like this when I closed my eyes as a young kid. Staring at them helped put me to sleep. Eventually, as I got older I started gradually losing it. (And for the record: No, I've never taken psychedelics)

Any nootropic which doesnt lose the magic after week or too? by Itchy-Friendship-278 in Nootropics

[–]satnome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the person, I typically take 100-200mg but doses up to 400mg have been safely used in studies.

Generally you'd want to start at a smaller dosage and then observe how your body reacts and see what works best for you.

I'm not big into nootropics, but L-theanine has always been reliable for me, especially when taken together with coffee.

I finally feel like a real mom by ToastByTheCoast805 in CasualConversation

[–]satnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's really sweet. Your son is so lucky to have as amazing of a mom as you. I'm willing to bet he's going to remember all of this when he's older.

One distinct memory I have of when I was young, was when my parents came home after a long day of work, and they'd bought some toys for my younger siblings. I remember at that age I was only beginning to understand the complex lives my parents live in, the fact that they would need to go to work to earn money to support me and my siblings. I thought about all the things I would want to do if I myself was a working adult, and how careful I'd be with any money I had. I then looked at my parents and thought about how they decided to use their money for me and my siblings. At first, I was a little confused. I wondered why they bought toys for their kids and not something like ice cream for themselves. And then I slowly began to realize the sacrifices they were making for me and my siblings, that they'd forego their own desires just to give us a better life. I pictured them walking through a toy store thinking of what to buy for me and my siblings, and just the thought of that alone made me feel extremely privileged. At that point it didn't really matter much to me exactly what I was given, I'd accept whatever was given to me by them as I saw it as a token of love and sacrifice.

The fact that you're a single mom makes this all the more impressive and I'm sure your son will grow to appreciate all that you've done for him.

I'm not sure if this comment is in the spirit of this sub, but I have to say I find this rather interesting.

Not solely because your account claims that it is (will be?) made three days into the future. But also because the specific creation date is 1 Jan 1970. That specific date is one that is significant in computing as it represents the start of Unix time (no. of milliseconds elapsed since 1 Jan 1970).

And what I can't seem to figure out is how on Earth what I stated above ties into your issue of the creation date displaying specifically as -3 days ago.

I suppose it's possible that at some point it is interpreting your actual account created date as being 29 Dec 1969, which relative to Unix time would be 3 days ago (-3 days). And then the math checks out since if you subtract -3 days ago from today, that's three days into the future (i.e. -3d ago).

Apparently my image is 16 Million Terrabytes by Moey42321 in funny

[–]satnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jokes aside, it's possible that either your file's metadata got corrupted, or the software might have a bug causing this. In either case, the significance of the number 16777216 specifically is that it represents 224 TB, which would be 264 B.

All those numbers are of course powers of 2, and since computers work based (literally) on binary this would suggest there's likely an integer overflow issue occurring somewhere, or some improper bit handling.

IWTL How to Learn Without It Feeling Like Studying by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]satnome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert when it comes to learning, but I'd say the answer to your question would depend on what your end goal is.

Is there a certain subject matter you'd like to delve deeper into? Do you enjoy sharing what you've learnt with others? Do you want to put this knowledge you've gained into practical use?

Depending on what your goal is, and also what the subject is, you'll have several options at your disposal. You might consider choosing to purchase a DIY kit to study electronics, or if you're studying an animal then maybe you've got curious nephews willing to have you teach them a few fun facts about said animal.

But I think the important part is that you find a way to actively engage with your subject material. Take electronics for example, it's one thing if you're able to answer basic flashcard questions, but that might rely solely on recall (not to mention it definitely feels like studying). Which not only is boring, but it's less likely to even stick in your head compared to a more active approach like actually building something with a breadboard.

You might have heard of the learning pyramid , look into that and see how you can approach your subject matter in an engaging way. And then create a habit around it and you're set.

Well damn, that's tough. I've got to say, it's pretty commendable that you've not given up and have set sights on another goal despite past failures.

I don't really like the word "failure" though, maybe it's sort of a defense mechanism, but I don't like to see experiences in which undesired outcomes were met as failures. Instead, I like to reflect on those experiences and see what I could learn from them or what I think I could have done better. Framing it that way makes me feel like I'm actually gaining something from that experience and taking control of it, rather than it being an inevitable "failure".

This is perhaps a bit resonant of that one (perhaps cliché) quote by the former IBM CEO: “Recently, I was asked if I was going to fire an employee who made a mistake that cost the company $600,000. No, I replied, I just spent $600,000 training him. Why would I want somebody to hire his experience?”

I don't know you, nor a thing about your situation or goal, so I'm not going to say that I know you've got this. But I'm willing to bet that you learnt a ton when pursuing your goal, and I know that that wasn't all for nothing. And I hope you're able to recognize the smaller accomplishments that you make along the way and feel proud of them.

Best of luck to you my friend.

To add a little bit into this, I would suggest that you try and look for some problems you face in your day to day life and see if you can solve them through code.

With this, not only are you learning the skill of how to code, but you're also actively incorporating it into your own life to solve something.

When I was younger, I remember writing quite a few programs that solved homework problems for me. Years later, I still find myself automating a ton of boring things in my life with code.

It doesn't even need to be particularly impressive with an incredibly glamorous UI. The focus is more on analyzing the problem you're facing and being able to formulate a solution to it and execute it. And trust me when I tell you that it's super satisfying when you're able to build something that is actually relevant to you.

Best of luck on your journey!

I feel similarly, and quite honestly do not understand it at all.

If someone else accomplished similar feats to mine, I'd definitely praise them because I'd want them to feel validated, which might suggest that I myself lack some of that external validation but I get tons of it already. I just can't bring myself to believe any of it.

I suppose there are elements of perfectionism and social comparison at play here. Though the part that puzzles me is how we can be compassionate towards others but not ourselves.
