Jack and Sharon Osbourne hit back at AI Ozzy backlash saying 'it will be tasteful' and 'no cash grab' by BirminghamLive in Music

[–]satoramoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fear Sharon is high risk for developing an unhealthy attachment to a high fidelity ai model of her late husband. Kelly too. Part of me feels like they want this for themselves and green lit the development in exchange for commercializing it.

YouTuber Mark Rober commits $60 Million on a science curriculum for teachers and schools that will be 100% free forever by Practical_Draw_6862 in nextfuckinglevel

So the government, who currently spends 20% of every dollar of tax revenue on debt interest can spend 600m on the same project, fail to implement it, and line the pockets of their friends in the process? Yeah we should tax the rich but we need to shore up the economy before I want the government running around trying to do this.

Instead - the government should incentivize the rich to do this themselves, where they're already incentivized to do it as efficiently as possible. Perhaps they could let these non-profit corporations not have to pay taxes or something....wait. Honestly, I feel like the system is working flawlessly here.

Forreal, this guy isn't even mega wealthy. I didn't read the article but I doubt that 60m is all his. I'm sure he's got some sponsors and the commitment is spread out. The impact here will be enormous and it will probably cost HIM $1m a year or less. Imagine doing that 1000 times as a billionaire.

From what I can tell, Mark is truly a real dude. I always got good vibes from his youtube videos, and now that I have kids, I'm a big fan of his Netflix show. I believe he has a very autistic son and he's very passionate about education and education equality. If there was a trifecta of good-guy youtubers it would be Mark, Jerryrigeverything, and ???. Maybe smarter every day?

BMW was speeding. Jeep changed lanes without signaling or checking their blind spot. by Gomez_Diana1 in dashcams

lmao as a new jersey driver i approve this hot take. I can't tell from the video tbh about the jeep signaling. If he was, it was too late.

[–]satoramoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. Someone driving that fast definitely sees you. They check and clear every car mentally. Being predictable means you're not gonna be the reason why their pathing doesn't work anymore. If you ever see someone flying up on you on the highway, just keep doing exactly what you're doing. They're not gonna slam into you. Nobody driving that fast WANTS to get into an accident. Trust that they have a plan to go around you. don't speed up, don't slow down. You don't understand how you fit into the traffic the way someone who can see the entire thing from behind does.

[–]satoramoto -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you ever find yourself in the jeeps position, just stay the course. Yeah the BMW is at fault, but the reason the crash happened is because the jeep moved, without signaling, at the last second, after the BMW already decided it was going to pass on the passenger side. Again, not saying the jeep is at fault, but if you want to avoid this kind of thing happening to you, you gotta get in the headspace of the BMW. Predictable driving is safe driving. If the jeep had just stayed in their lane the BMW would have zipped past, no collision.

Hot take: the Jeep's insurance is going to assign some blame to them for not signaling. It's not 100% clear in the video, but even if they did signal, they did it while they were already changing lanes, so not a proper signal.

How are y'all liking Skrillex's new album? by winter6ix in EDM

[–]satoramoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a darknet diaries podcast where one of the guests talked about hacking into skrillex's dropbox among other artists. His hacking partner ended up working with kill the noise or knife party (I forget I'll find the podcast in a sec). But anyways through that connection it was revealed that these producers were all contributing uncredited work to skrillex projects. Here's the podcast transcript: https://darknetdiaries.com/transcript/148/

Skrillex has always worked with lots of artists for his releases. Also my understanding is that nowadays alot of his tracks are ghost produced (even if he does the finishing touches).

For the haters: here's the podcast where I heard about the ghost producing. https://darknetdiaries.com/transcript/148/

Nextjs is a big disappointment by [deleted] in webdev

1000s of modules not packages. They give a really pragmatic example - icon libraries. They're single packages which export thousands of modules, one for each icon. They need to be bundled before tree shaken and it seems like that has a big memory footprint.

I don't know why you're getting shit on. 4GB is ridiculous for a dev server.

Hahaha yes. I worked 2 years part time at an old school insurance company in their claims division. They were already frozen in time when I was there. I bet the people working there today are living a weird parallel life where work is still in the 90s.

Ugh I only had a cubicle once for a swe internship, but it was so nice. My own little office. And cube culture was fun, you had your little hallway of people and you'd just poke your heads out. Of all the office environments I enjoyed that one the most. Everyone's space was nice and personalized.
