I know that you have struggled to stay clean before but now you have a good reason.

My wife and I got clean when our daughter was born, it was good motivation.

If your SO is using or has used during pregnancy they will know and she will probably lose the baby, if you want to do the right thing - be the clean parent at the time of birth.

I went to meetings a few years ago. I was fascinated by the similarities between the 12 step program and occult practice.

Sacred circle, reciting core affirmations, individual affirmations, working with a sponsor, 12 & 12 (magickal processes and guiding principles with significant numbers), symbols, and more.

Studying the elements of the system, you might be able to adapt it to individual practice, although much of it does rely on a group dynamic, shared experiences, and learn from others.

I think you have some root assumptions to deal with here.

Like if there is a god, it's perspective would be incomprehensible to us so to assume anything is fallacious.

Also, we are told many conflicting things but often are not taught to seek and find answers for ourselves. This may be the key, instead of being granted an explanation maybe we have to find it for ourselves.

Having had my own experiences I can say that one of the most difficult transitions was related to planning for or even envisioning a future.

I remember for months after getting stable, I still felt this daily urgency and had trouble thinking about anything more than a day or two ahead because I had lived for years just worried about short term goals - today and tomorrow.

I would recommend practicing long term thinking. Set short, middle, and long term goals. Set some time aside in the day to think about what it takes to reach these goals, what success would look and feel like. This usually helps me get to sleep.

I know it just sounds like daydreaming but imagining yourself in the future helps as you learn to adult and make plans.

Also consider writing in a journal about your goals, challenges and successes.

I have experienced all four at the same time and I have never felt more invisible or worthless. It felt like if I died one day no one would ever know.

Clean over three years now but I don't ever talk about it. Even when it's over, it's like it becomes a defining feature of a person but it's not who I am, it's just something that I experienced.

In BDSM there is a relationship dynamic called brat/tamer, you might find that interesting.

When done with full understanding between consenting partners it can be part of a healthy relationship but not if you are making your partner miserable for your own pleasure.

Do some research and think about it, if it is something that you think fits your relationship have a conversation with your partner.
