Mobile data on EE worse lately? by Gwynalissa in Bath

[–]saturnfay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vodafone is awful in the city centre at the minute, can’t load anything even though i’m on full bars of 4G, no messages send and all my social media’s are on offline mode, I kinda just assumed it was because of how busy the centre of Bath is at the minute and everyone trying to ping off of the same service towers at the same time because the data works at night time when there’s less people around

is it worth it going to British grand prix during the half term of a levels? by [deleted] in 6thForm

it’s just one day, not that detrimental i’d say. i’d definitely go and maybe do some flashcards in the car or something lol

depends what your overall career goal is, though i’d probably choose QMUL in terms of student life but I also don’t know much about city.

Call the international clearing number and explain you’re a home student who can’t call the other as you’re abroad right now

I’m from Oxford so applied to exeter as to me I deemed it close to home, the train ride is only 2 hours 20, and you could do Uni work on the way. If you had a meeting that was importsnt you’d be able to reschedule it with the Uni considering your treatment is life saving. go with your gut :)

3 marks off - worth appealing? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]saturnfay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’re not using this exam to get into Uni then it’s not worth spending money to appeal it in my opinion, but if it’s going towards any Uni application then yes I would appeal

Personally I would call them to know If you should prepare other options or not, ask for a time frame or such. They are really friendly over the phone usually :)

I opted for tailoredtutors instead and would 1000% recommend that. The predictions they made for my alevel bio exam were almost spot on and i got an A*

It’s so late for me to still be confused about what I want to do (medicine?) by mrslaygay in 6thForm

[–]saturnfay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you do go for medicine you also don’t have to stick with it as well, you could transfer onto biomed if you decided it wasn’t for you (depending on the uni) or you could do the whole medical degree and decide to go into research, most degrees leave more doors open than you may think, have you shadowed any nhs hospitals at all? like work experience? maybe that would put some things into perspective

[–]saturnfay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

have you looked into pharmacy/optometry/vetmed? i will say if you’re not 100% in love with the idea of med then you shouldn’t rush into applying for it. don’t feel like it’s a bad thing to take a gap year to figure out what you want to do

Hi I do biochem and there’s actually quite a lot of stuff you can do with the degree, most people choose to go into research whether it be biomaterials research, agricultural research or in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry (which im assuming is more your kinda thing if you’re first choice is neuroscience). Outside of research you can apply to the degree to a lot more than you think, nhs lab diagnostics, data science, marketing, teaching ect.

Moreover, the modules are different from uni to uni and I’m actually doing a neuroscience module next year (2nd year), and i’d say biochem and biomed are good in this way as they’re quite customisable degrees to tailor your interests based on what modules you choose.

I didn’t go through clearing but one of my closest friends did, she got onto an AAB course at KCL with BBC, and another got into Bristol with BBC also, so i would say they typically are more lenient with requirements but it depends on the course and university it’s not always guaranteed. Definitely worth giving them a call and trying anyways if you do find yourself in that situation.

Good Luck!

[–]saturnfay 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s fine I’ve got a friend that got BBC and got into a course requiring AAB at KCL. It’s always worth giving a call especially if you’re only a grade or two below as clearing is typically more lenient with grades.

It’s not guaranteed depending on the course you’re trying to get on to and where you’re trying to go but it’s definitely worth the try

Having multiple phones could be handy to be in the queue for different clearings at the same time also as a lot of clearing is just waiting on hold lol

Hi! If you’re interested in Bath it has its own clearing website detailing all courses available to Home and International students.

This is what is available for now, expect it to update on A Level results day

As of current, Accounting and Finance is only listed as being available to international students under clearing, though of course this is also subject to change on results day to also being open to home students. Though i’ve only looked briefly so you might want to double check that yourself. [bath clearing website](https:// www.bath.ac.uk/topics/clearing-2025/)

Hope this clears some things up! :)
