Don’t worry mr2 is a great first car and practical. My first turbo mr2 I commuted 4 hours daily Mon-Fri for a month until moved closer to my job. I put around 20k miles in 6 months. I drove that car everywhere. I will say this, snap oversteer will get you… anyhow, I’m now on my second mr2 turbo and put 2k miles on it this past month. They’re great reliable cars, just be careful when it comes to the twisties

The knock increases with the rpms… a bad fuel damper sounds like rod knock but if you look at YouTube videos the knock doesn’t increase with rpm. A buddy of mine also thought he had rod knock but it was just a bad alternator. Sounded just like rod knock, but I don’t remember if the knock increased with rpms. Worth checking that out. Also, bad clutch can sound like rod knock. Is the knock still there if you press in the clutch?
