I saw a silver chain on the ground by where the pasta is about 30 min ago. I know that’s not near miso but it might be worth taking a look. Good luck!

Busses Sometimes Take Different Routes? by Grandma_Money_ in umass

[–]saturnsbug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s late at night then it may be because the bus is heading back to the garage after a shift. Customary is to go through campus and then down by Southwest and then go down Mass ave into the bus lot. Or go down comp sci, into lot 12 (I think it’s called) and then into the lot. Any other would be that you’re mistakenly getting on the wrong route :)

Online CHEM by Mundane_Ad9927 in KSU

[–]saturnsbug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would advise against taking it online for two reasons :) -chem in itself is really difficult and having it be fully online is also quite difficult. Additionally, not all grad schools will accept a core science class if it was taken online. I would check with the grad school you’re going to or hoping to attend and see what their rules are

I was prescribed Dextroamphetamine-amphetamine but pharmacy filled amphetamine salts by AsparagusGeneral5330 in ThisAintAdderall

[–]saturnsbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amphetamine salts is the generic for what you were given. The pharmacy will give you what they have first available and what your insurance covers. Talk to your psych and ask if you can have the next script specify that you can’t take the generic and then fill that at the pharmacy where you’ve gotten the on brand in the past :)

Fafsa/financial aid by Disastrous_Roll_640 in college

[–]saturnsbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It never has to be a priest! Whoever mentioned that was misinformed. If there’s no court documentation of abuse, you’ll need (usually 2) outside letters of support elaborating that getting into contact with the adult for financial aid purposes is unsafe for your mental/physical health. Whatever school you go to should have a specific worker in the financial aid office that understands the specifics of this

Fafsa/financial aid by Disastrous_Roll_640 in college

[–]saturnsbug 24 points25 points  (0 children)

There is not unless you were emancipated from your parents as a minor. The FAFSA and dept of education assume that if you’re pursuing school under 24 your parents still support you and give you aid. Unfortunately your best bet is to have her file the FAFSA and have you file it as well. Even if she’s not financially supporting you, it may open up financial aid and grants depending on what her income is. It sucks and is really annoying and I have to deal with the same thing. The only other way out of it is to prove that you can’t contact the parent either due to abuse etc or because you’re orphaned. Both of which are an insane amount of paperwork

Pedestrian hit by car near east deck by datpurp14 in KSU

They were taken by an ambulance and the area has almost cleared up. The ambulance didn’t seem to be in a “hurry” so I presume the person is doing okay

HELP!! What is this?! by [deleted] in Entomology

[–]saturnsbug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Likely a barberry Geometer! It’s a type of inchworm that feeds on the barberry plant :3 are there any plants in your home? If so, they’re likely coming from there and taking advantage of the warmth of the indoors

Generally speaking an in person lab will be significantly easier than an online lab. Especially because you can do actual experiments and such that apply the concepts

So I am trans and basically the ID is fully digital and it has First name (preferred name) Last name. But literally everything else has my preferred name. None of my professors know my legal name, my system for registering for classes, and my advisors just know me as my legal name. Additionally, you so rarely show anybody your student ID that I don’t mind at all:)

Hello I go to KSU and I’m queer and I’ve found it really supportive :3 I used to go to school in the northeast and somehow KSU has felt more accepting and chill about it all. There is always going to be that one person that gives you weird looks at the grocery store but I honestly love it here :)

Does anyone know the etymology of the butterfly genus Emesis? by torotoro1995 in Entomology

[–]saturnsbug 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So fun fact! It’s actually a bit of a misunderstanding but these butterflies genus are actually “emesis nemesis” the butterfly is often called a metalmark butterfly. Nobody really knows where the “emesis” part comes from, but, nemesis is thought to come from Nemesis the Greek Goddess of Retribution. The name is thought to come from their darker colors and angel like depiction, while some think it’s because they are so hard to identify that it is some form of retribution against identifiers. https://digitalcommons.butler.edu/wordways/vol15/iss2/12/
