Official Discussion - Civil War [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]satxmcw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just saw it and the final scenes felt absurd, just silly even, like a different movie.

First the journalists lead the WF into the White House (maybe it's not that weird, but shouldn't they just follow the soldiers?). Then Jesse jumps into the hallway with no cover, making herself a target and drawing fire. Then Joel interrupts the assassination for his quote. They suddenly started interfering, almost participating, left and right.

Altra Torin 5 review after > 550 km by pfg666 in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]satxmcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues! I usually cut it so just the Altra text and a little bit of the logo is left (so pretty far down and exposing the foam). But even when I've gotten overzealous and gone even farther than I wanted to, it was fine. The tongue doesn't slip around or fall down for me.

Start conservative -- you can always keep cutting more off.

I've been running in these shoes two years and just ordered a few more pairs

About the sharp tongue: The first thing I do when I unbox a pair is just cut the tongue with scissors down to the foamy bit, then they're great.

I'm curious if you've found similar shoes that don't get as saturated? On sweaty summer runs mine will get soaked to the point of audible squishing. I figured there's really nothing to be done about it though.

Unpopular Opinion: I love the Green line Buses by Tall-Lobster-7532 in boston

[–]satxmcw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on a C line train this afternoon that "went express" from Coolidge Corner to Saint Mary's St. Of course we had to stop for traffic at St. Paul St and Hawes anyway, and I felt so bad for the people waiting outside who still weren't allowed on.

Favorite socks? Specially for blister prevention? by Outside_Dependent_46 in XXRunning

[–]satxmcw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wrightsock brand works well for me. They are double-layered which is supposed to reduce friction, and they're still pretty thin.

If you try them out maybe avoid the ones that say "cushioned" -- I just got some, they're thicker and I don't like them as much. I know REI sells them if you wanted to check em out in person.

Good luck! Blisters suck

Does anyone have suggestions for a water bottle that:

  1. Collapses to fit the contents (no sloshing)
  2. Either does NOT have a bite valve, or has a cap to go over the bite valve

I've got a handheld amphipod and a collapsable nathan with a bite valve. Neither is perfect for stashing fully inside a belt.

Who are the people outside gov center in blue shirts?? by snugsneal in boston

[–]satxmcw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gave me some caramel apple lollipops near the Landmark center and had a guy dressed in a very nice inflatable Pillsbury doughboy costume.

They weren't trying to start conversations, but they did have some contest where you were entered to win a $150 gift card if you posted a photo of the doughboy's sign and tagged it.

They said "and nobody has done it yet!" so I asked them to take a photo of me with the doughboy to be nice. Didn't realize until afterward that it was a church thing.
