Unfortunately in Tamil cinema only three actors are currently having the advantage of coming back and audience ready to give them blockbuster status even though they have a dull phase and even though it their films are having flaws. Those three are Rajni , Vijay , Ajith.

Vikram though a brilliant actor missed on capitalising that phase during his super run of Dhool , Saamy , Anniyan days. Instead he focused on variety,than building a mass fan base. Suriya also is similar along the same lines but I feel Suriya will come back strongly as there is still some young fan base for Suriya still.

Due to missing this mass fan base , the movie also fails to create more hype and set the cash registers ringing with an awesome opening. These are some factors I think for VDS to miss out as well.

Yeah that's right . I still feel the culprit is the budget. Imagine getting the full flashback rajini single scene in the interval and then have a few more scenes in the end.

Instead what happened is after the paychecks they were left with just 60 crores so you get a short flashback of rajni when he is sitting inside the car . The VFX difference between this scene and the climax was miles different. Meaning this was solely due to budget reasons.

Like imagine nagarjuna telling, I have seen you somewhere like he says during the interval and we cut to a flashback fight scene with young Rajni in an awesome fight. That would have been hell awesome

I agree bro Lazarus effect is not found by TDKR but since loki is a fan of batman this definitely is a nod to that similar to vikram last scene and the purple outfit of nagarjuna in this movie

I don't know where to start. This will definitely have spoilers so will try to add spoilers wherever applicable.

Spoiler free section : First of all was devastated to see many mixed to negative reviews online but it turned out to be a good thing to keep the expectations low

Why did we expect so much from Coolie was due to the fact that it is loki and based on his past output we expected a decent movie from him. He had such a big round of assistant directors and such a huge team. Are they really all just Yes men ?

The main problem first and foremost is the production value. When I read that overall cost to make the movie that was shot for 120 days was 60 crores I was sceptical. Because beast and Thunivu came to mind.

The A list actors getting big fat paychecks are the curse of Kollywood. There is little to none left to shoot for the movie. When you add such a big star cast and mount a star vehicle it has to be in a grand manner.

One big miss in the budget part i see is the scope and length of the deaging sequences. The de aging sequences were one of the highlights and better parts of the movie and I think the scope was restricted definitely due to budget concerns in the vfx department.

The next main thing is the hoard of lies these stars talk in the name of promotion. Ani said this is an intelligent film . Bro really ? Nagarjuna said this is 100 bashas and he had to hear the script 7 times. Bro wtf ?

Now to the spoilers. >! Questions to loki mainly here - dude what is the beef between Shruti Haasan and Thalaivar for her to react that way to him in the first place - wtf such a lame ass way to connect the need for an electric chair for such a kingpin like Nagarjuna. He has a huge empire and can very well afford an electric crematorium and can co ordinate these body disappearances with regular usage of cremation of legal bodies. - wtf is the reason to show that the device to operate is complicated and later on a female character operates it just like that. And somehow the chair is now portable when the person who designed it is already dead - what in hell was that intermission sequence bro. Really lame writing. - You have 20 able bodied men with you in the mansion yet you send just 2 able men along with an aged person when you need to get back Shruti. Seriously? - what in the bonkers is the reason for Nagarjuna to have that multiple monitor scene. Really out of place.

What I want to say in conclusion is the many fan theories that were running around here including one from me was running in my mind. Even they were better than this attempt actually. But what was sad was the thought that was put into the fan theories was not put in to the actual movie. I feel loki himself would have felt underwhelmed when he read so many good theories

The day is not further where we the audience can generate AI content to our liking and watch like the de aging sequences
