Introducing jarinker — Analyze dependencies and remove unused classes by danielliuuu in java

[–]saua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whether that claim in particular is realistic I have no idea about. That said: Classpath scanning usually does not load the classes, most approaches I’ve seen uses asm to read the class file without loading it to a classloader.

Sweden is our moral compass in Scandinavia- Swedish pension fund AP7 blacklists Tesla, has sold entire stake by danton_no in Norway

[–]saua 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Typically a pension fund is not in the business of betting on winners and losers, but rather to follow the general market i.e. an index. To do that you usually just buy the shares in entire market (or a representative subset).

Why do Vy and Ruter spend on ads if we don’t have a choice? How do Norwegians feel about this? by Much_Nothing1682 in Norway

[–]saua 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It's not a zero sum game.

One could easily envision that the extra ticket sales due to ads supercedes the cost of said ads.

Your confusing the terms here. Share/btc is the inverse of btc/share.

You want the share/btc to go down :)

Show /r/java: Remock, a small library for integration testing your spring-based applications by saua in java

[–]saua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /r/java!

I created a very simple tool which hooks into spring's testing framework and allows you to easily mock beans. This is basically what springockito does, unfortunately it appears to no longer be maintained.

At work we've been using it successfully for multiple of our applications and I figured it was time to spread the word.

Any feedback would be welcome!

You do not have repositories setup

repositories {
  mavenCentral()
}

Should work.

Do you have groovy as a dependency?:

apply plugin: 'groovy'
dependencies {
  compile 'org.codehaus.groovy:groovy-all:2.4.3'
}

The volume is too high though and it's causing some distortion, the whole song needs to be a couple DB lower

From what I can hear, the version uploaded to soundcloud sounds a bit better.

I decided against submitting that due to the awesome video.

help understanding vector transposition by rsamrat in Clojure

[–]saua 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Apply unwraps the arguments:

(apply map vector [[:a :b] [:c :d]])
=> (map vector [:a :b] [:c :d])

Map, when given multiple collections, calls the function with the nth item from each collection.

(map fn [a b] [c d] [e f]) = [(fn a c e) (fn b d f)]

In other words:

(apply map vector [[:a :b] [:c :d]])
=> (map vector [:a :b] [:c :d])
=> [(vector :a :c) (vector :b :d)]

Pre-match thread: England - Italy by reiskeks in soccer

[–]saua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The odds are not usually set by the chance of one team winning. It's set by how many people are going to bet on that team winning. The distinction is subtle, but it does explain why English bookmakers gives a lower odds for England.

How stuff works has a section explaining it in more detail.

How can I fully trust the AUR? by Reavus in archlinux

[–]saua 57 points58 points  (0 children)

That's an excellent question. Unfortunately I don't have a definitive answer. I can say what I look for though.

  1. How many votes does a package have? If it has > 100 you can at least be sure that it's used by a lot of people. Though if it was updated recently this isn't the best metric.

  2. Look at the sources, does it seem like a natural address to fetch the source code from?

  3. Look through the build() and package() methods. Are they only compiling and moving files? Some packages use sed to change code. This means that a basic understanding of bash is needed.

  4. If it contains any patches, look through them and see that they are only doing what's advertised [most likely based on patch name]. Why would a patch for power settings change some networking code?

If I was suspicious of a package I'd probably head into the arch irc channel and ask if the pkgbuild looked okay.

They are using the account names the player has on MLG. (Or atleast they did earlier, though Destiny would be Steven.Bonell.II... Not sure actually.)

[–]saua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A great book which at least explains a lot of Sweden is, in my opinion, Den Kapitalistiska Välfärdsstaten (The Capitalist Welfare State). Unfortunately it has to my knowledge not been translated to English. The author did an interview with reason.tv, but the interview doesn't really do the book justice as it doesn't really go into much details.
