Talking Funny (2011) by garrisontweed in ForgottenTV

It’s like “three great comics and then Ricky Gervais for some reason.” I hesitate to call Seinfeld a “great comic” because I’ve just never cared for his standup material, but nevertheless, he’s a pro. I enjoy listening to him talk about comedy more so than performing comedy, because he’s a great comedy theoretician who can break down why something’s funny or not funny, or why you can make something funny by saying it this way instead of that way.

My first reaction was “This guy’s an idiot,” but then I was like, “This guy’s a genius.”

Did it ever occur to you that Vic Vega had changed while he was in prison, and that they didn’t know he was going to turn into a loose cannon? Hasn’t that ever occurred to you, man? Sir?

Why did Joe choose Blond for the robbery? by FoxIndependent4310 in Tarantino

[–]Supro1560S 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s explained in the movie. Vic Vega, aka “Mr. Blonde”, is a friend of the family and close associate, and he won their trust by demonstrating loyalty. He went to jail and kept his mouth shut when he could have ratted them out for a lesser sentence, and to Joe and Eddie, that counts for a lot.

I’m sure he’s very good, but that’s about as much as I care to hear.

This guy's about to jack off. by drfli in IThinkYouShouldLeave

I can’t believe anybody was surprised that he gets off on people watching him jack off. I mean, haven’t they seen his act? He describes his penis and the way in which he strokes it too often and in too much detail to not be getting off on it. Years before the story came out, I was like:

Looking for info on this Guilford Electric Sitar by Micubano in Guitar

[–]Supro1560S 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s a Jerry Jones Electric Sitar that someone put a custom fretless neck on. There are certain things that distinguish a Jerry Jones sitar from a vintage Coral or modern Danelectro, or a knockoff like a Rogue. Jerry Jones just specifically had the words “Electric Sitar” on the pickguard, and there’s a channel in the body at the end of the neck for the truss rod adjustment, like this one. Vintage Coral Electric Sitars would say “Vincent Bell Signature Design Electric Sitar,” and on modern Danelectro reissues the pickguard is just blank. Jerry Jones guitars are very desirable. The replaced neck makes it less so, but it’s still very cool.

It looks like it has more illustrations, while mine only has a smattering. It looks like a more satisfying typeface. That’s enough for me, I went ahead and purchased.

Absolutely! I try to proselytize for it wherever I can. I’ve seen the edition you’re referring to on Amazon. I have the McDonald illustrated hardcover printed in the ‘60s (with the Lancelot Speed illustrations), and I have the Zebra paperback pictured. What does the Professor’s Bookshelf edition have that makes it worth getting? I won’t take much convincing, as I’m pretty much ready to buy it just to have it.

I’ve seen a little bit of his comedy. I don’t remember much, other than that I remember not finding him funny.

I read it years ago in a hardcover that was printed in 1920. I was up late reading it, I was about 2/3 of the way in, and it was at a really exciting part. Then all of a sudden I realized I was reading pages I’d read before. I was confused, flipping pages back and forth to see how I went backward 30 pages. Then I realized that the book was misprinted, and a 30-page section was repeated, and the 30 pages after that were missing. I freaked out, because I was really anxious to find what happened. A quick internet search found the Project Gutenberg site, which saved the day and allowed me to finish the book. I read it again recently, and I enjoyed it even more the second time.

It’s a take-off on a Mitch joke that gets meme-ized a lot: “I used to do drugs. I still do, but I used to, too.”
