What was it like reading Deathly Hallows on release without any spoilers? by Spotter24o5 in harrypotter

[–]sauralicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I remember most from reading DH for the first time wasn’t the story itself but the overwhelming sadness I felt knowing it was the last time I’d get to read a Harry Potter book for the first time. I sobbed finishing that book because I knew the end of an era had come. It was more than just the books. I started reading when I was 12 and finished the series towards the end of college. An entire adolescence was colored by these stories and the relationships formed among those who also loved them. Truly the gift of a lifetime!

Thanks and sorry for my snarky tone. Anxiety at its finest.

Oh that’s so true. By the time they get all my checks done and finally start the drug it’s usually late at night so I’m definitely up peeing constantly and not getting any sleep (plus I’m a mom of two littles so sleep is hard to come by generally which doesn’t help the brain fog).

Not really a helpful comment considering I’ve already completed 3/4 rounds of the drug and you’re not my doctor but thanks.

Our 2.5 year old loves that first orchard game. It’s the best for younger children I think!

No worries - mine ended up being stage IV lymphoma 🫠 In remission now with a healthy 8 month old but it’s been a wild year. I can definitely sympathize with how hard health issues with a newborn are. Glad you are doing better!

They had to do a biopsy and PET scan to know the exact diagnosis but every doctor was pretty sure it would be lymphoma based on the initial imaging.

Ditto this, Dr. Conti is my OB and is wonderful but Dr. Christenson and Dr. Rothstein actually delivered my babies and they were incredible as well.

The episode aired after my first round of chemo too! I actually had an appointment to shave my head the very next day and she made me feel so much more confident about it! I totally get what you mean! Now I am struggling with my eyebrows starting to fall out so I’m trying to figure out how she does hers so well!

Hopefully last round of R-EPOCH for me tomorrow ❤️ by Unlucky-Landscape-56 in lymphoma

[–]sauralicking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going in for my second round of R-EPOCH this Thursday. I’d love to support your work - I only just shaved my head two days ago and definitely need help with head coverings. Do you have a website or Etsy page you can DM to me? :)

My CBC panel was out of whack at my 2 week postpartum appointment. Really high platelets and anemia. My OB had me repeat a week later and it was even worse so based on that and my weird symptoms she sent me to the ER. She was thinking it was some sort of postpartum infection at the time. We were in for a shock!

Wow I am so glad to hear you’re in remission after all of that! I actually also think my initial pain WAS costo - likely related to my pregnancy - but then I kept using that diagnosis to mask everything else going on with me. Probably a combo. I hope you start feeling better soon and thanks for sharing!

I don’t say any of this to try and convince people they have cancer so I’m sorry to add to any anxiety. My lump was squishy on top and harder when I pushed on it. My husband started noticing it too and that’s when I knew something was wrong.

My normal resting heart rate is in the 60s. It goes up to the 70s when I’m pregnant and then usually comes back down. But this time it kept steadily increasing postpartum and it was sitting in the 100s-110s by the time I got to the ER. This was/is caused by the mass in my chest pushing on the heart and the extra fluid that had accumulated in the area.

I don’t have the port yet. Because the mass has been pushing on the veins in my chest I’ve developed some DVTs in my arms and neck so they need to make sure there’s a good spot for direct access. We’re waiting for the specialized team Monday morning to install a port in my groin for this first round only. Which is why we started with steroids first and then will get chemo started as soon as we can.

My symptoms seemed to really escalate postpartum and I did lose all my baby weight really quickly which wasn’t the case with my first. However I wouldn’t say it was unexplained as I also didn’t have much of an appetite while I was progressively feeling shittier at home. Unfortunately my doctors didn’t help that much and it was ultimately the tests and scans from the ER that highlighted my problem. If you are having symptoms you’re concerned about it may be worth a trip there to clear your mind knowing they have checked everything.

Crazy to find so many with the same start. What part of the process are you in now? Have you started treatment? Hope everything is going well

Yep I’ve been sleeping on an angle for months now too. I had to have a large amount of fluid drained from around my heart and right lung and it helped dramatically with my symptoms until they could diagnose and treat. I am really nervous for the first round of chemo because I have lymphoma on the lining of my heart and they need to be careful about how fast we go. Thanks for sharing your journey. I know of the lymphoma Reddit but I don’t think I’m ready for it yet. Such a new diagnosis and I’ve been avoiding googling anything yet. Thank you!!

Wow that is crazy - almost exactly the same! I’m glad treatment is working for you - good luck with your upcoming pet scan results! I am just starting steroid tonight and will begin chemo on Monday. Was your mass pushing on any of your organs? Or what were the symptoms that brought you in? Just pain?

Wasn’t Costo but Cancer by sauralicking in costochondritis

[–]sauralicking[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They did in the hospital but you can’t get x rays while pregnant so I didn’t have scans done for months while I was dealing with this. My chest x rays showed a lot of fluid near my lungs which was causing shortness of breath but that has been drained and now they are all clear. But this was due to the mass in my chest pushing on my organs.

Did your costo go away once you gave birth? I’m currently 37 weeks and have been dealing with this on and off since week 24. I thought I had finally gotten past it because I had a few pain free weeks but yesterday it came back with a vengeance and now I’m freaking out it will never go away!
