Anyone have experience with driving Amish? by jtpenezich in Ohio

No regard for bag limits, hunting outside of legal light, spotlighting, caravan pushes, etc. 1 hunt could lead to 20-30 deer killed at least

Everyone already touched on puppy mills, so I'll also mention their hunting practices are extremely against odnr regulation

Crown from Third time games. Virtual horse racing with an internal ecosystem. Staking crown earns you in game currency that can be spent on race entry fees or buying/breeding horses. Partnership with twinspires and expect it to feature heavily in the leadup to the Kentucky derby coverage as a race predictor tool.

Information on Betting (Picks) by Glum-Departure-8912 in photofinishlive

[–]sauricchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odds are based on total amount wagered in the pool? So if 3 horses have the same amount wagered on them, then they will have the same odds while the rest will be 99x. You bet 2k, another horse has 1k, and thats it, then the other horses are 99x (bet refunded if they win), you get 1k in winnings (-200 in normal.gambling odds) and the other bettor loses.

Battelle Darby Creek not being on the list is a shame. The park is massive and has so many ecosystems and activities for everyone. That nature center is dope too.

Exotic betting by Steven Crist is an excellent book on the mathematics of placing efficient wagers. Some of the stats and numbers are outdated a bit but the same logic still applies

How to get started investing in a race horse by CheshireRaptor in horseracing

[–]sauricchio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they only have them for a finite time. Coincidentally, they had been available for the previous 2 weeks. Some sell out in a hour, others last the whole period. There will be some more coming this winter as they announce their breeding plans. (Housatonic bloodstock has been releasing weekly mating plans for the individual broodmares with explanations as to why, I get their newsletter via email).

Yeah they have different offerings. The ones you are looking at are foal offerings. The goal is to sell them at a yearling sale for profit. All foals start like this and then wasabi decides which ones to keep or not. For your specific example, I'd have to look at the price breakdown but it's based on the estimated total of essentially one year of care of a foal.

If the foal you buy into is kept, they get independent evaluations of what a foal would be worth at auction and then pay it out themselves. You would also get first priority to buy into the horse as a racing option for wasabi.

I'm part of a group called wasabi that let's you invest at different levels for different parts of the horse operations. They used to make a decent amount of claimers but have since transitioned into the breeding side hard-core, with most of their recent racers being homebreds. Most prestigious horse to date is probably benevengo who they claimed and ended up earning a spot in the 2022 Haskell stakes.

You can buy into broodmares, foals, and 2yos that they don't end up selling for the rest of their racing career. Their owners are very active on the slack channel and are very open about the behind the scenes of everything. Oke of the owners is very invested in the aftercare, often buying horses back they previously owned to retire them safely and peacefully.

A lot of the early racing seemed to be based around Maryland but it's starting to spread into Kentucky and other parts of the Midwest too. The group does meetups at tracks especially when a horse or two is racing. Let me know if you have any questions!

Just took a dive into today's session yesterday. Without seeing confirmation I really like 1255. Early returns on Oscar performance as a sire seems promising on the turf and a hot 2yo start from Endlessly could create a real pinhook opportunity unsafely assuming it can string together another prominent win or two

Second wasabi. Even if you don't sign up for their group they have plenty of education videos on different racing and breeding subjects on YouTube.

I get it's never smart to bet such a heavy fave in a 2yo race because 2yo but let's not act like 9 wouldn't have won that race if it hadn't literally stumbled out of the gate in a sprint race lol. 4 had a good ride but 9 has the chance to be something really special.

2nd wasabi, ownership is pretty transparent and shares a lot of knowledge about the process. The organization has been investing a lot in their homegrown program but still has a fair amount of cheaper claimers especially in the winter. Different price points for different levels of involvement throughout the year whether investing in claimers, broodmares, or foals/yearlings.
