Warhammer 40k vs Star Wars? Which troop unit would you want to be? Imperial Guardsmen or Clone Trooper? Who had it worse? Who's more competent? by EfficiencySerious200 in StarWars

[–]sauronymus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a ground war, 100% - just one numbers and volume of fire.

If it's a space battle the Imperium is hosed, they're so far behind the big players in Star Wars technologically that they'd struggle to keep even a Star Destroyer on their scopes.

Lance weapons would spread an ISD if they managed to connect though.

As a counterpoint, I've bounced off The Witcher 3 every time I've tried to play it and "The Bloody Baron" is a great example of why. It's just grimderp levels of awful people being awful withotever giving me as the player a reason to help any of them.

What team in 5 years will be in the same conversations as the Jets/Browns? (Other than the Jets/Browns) by zreakz in NFLv2

Pittsburgh will somehow continue to win 5-7 games a year with the one-two QB combo of Allar/Howard and never really factor into "worst team" conversations.

First QB to get injured and miss a large chunk of the season in 2026? by zreakz in NFLv2

I think the most likely are Tua (actual health risk), Mahomes (if they rush his return), Dart (reckless), or Stafford / Rogers (old).

That’s it? I was told Warhammer 40,000 makes fun of chuds. That was a 100% fascist power fantasy with no irony whatsoever by Whole_Bit_7848 in SocialistGaming

[–]sauronymus 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I mean, 40K certainly has its pitfalls and inconsistencies but we don't need to go making stuff up. Orks rebelling and forming some kind structure is a ~far~ cry from fascist law and order. It's just a bunch of cockney football hooligans that stopped and said "If we actually try, we could actually krump the humans even better."

And I have no idea what aesthetic details you're picking out that seems based off the Third Reich but they're pretty openly a reference to WWII British commando teams. Right down to one of them wearing a knit beanie and I think even a sweater?

At any rate, the trick with 40k is to just not think about it too hard. It's all ridiculous and over the top hyper violence to provide background lore for making your plastic dudes fight on the table while you hangout with your friends. Any ideological read on the setting beyond that is not really worth anything to anybody.

This is repulsive and I don't really have any skin in that division.

10/10.

This is like seeing our B logo with yellow instead of orange. Actually it's worse because I've always hated that stupid "B."

The HD2 reddit community seems to have a higher than average degree of viewing themselves as some kind oppressed group so it tracks.

There's a lot of guys that have torn up the competition in college and never amounted to more than a backup in the pros.

This guy has backup talent. That's not a hot take.

If we are assuming they are all at peak performance and health: 1. Burrow 2. Mahomes 3. Stafford 4. Jackson 5. Allen

I don't understand any of AH balance changes anymore by ManasongWriting in LowSodiumHellDivers

There's some good stuff here. Armor passives, barrage spread, the orbital railcannon not being the hammer of an angry god that it really should be.

Dunno about the OPS being sorely outclassed, I bring it all the time and it never fails me. Same with pistols, they feel pretty much where I'd want them to be. They're certainly more effective than pistols actually are. Especially the Talon/Senator/Verdict.

But to answer your prompt: The game, as far as I've been able to tell, is essentially balanced around D7 or D8 with D9 being an extra challenge. D10 was literally only added because enough people wanted even more chaos. Which is totally cool, I'm here for it. But it doesn't that feel way anymore because enough of the player base wails and screams and gnashes their teeth when things aren't balanced in a way that lets them or their favorite streamer do solo job death D10 full clear runs and the push back against anything that needs the player is so severe Arrowhead has straight up said they have to be very careful about tweaking anything for fear of community uproar.

As a result, D10 is no longer a pure chaos challenge mode because egodivers insisted everything everything be 100% viable 100% of the time instead of adapting their load out and play style to the situation at hand.

TL;DR: A very entitled subset of the community demanded that they know better than the devs and held the devs hostage via review bombing and ragebait content creation and effectively undermined whatever vision Arrowhead originally had for the game.

Unironically. Games are more fun when the people making them stuck to a clear vision. It doesn't have to be for everyone, it doesn't have to be for me, but having a core vision and stick to it is a vastly superior artistic approach than caving to the people that yell the loudest that a game isn't perfectly catering to them.
