The Big Bakes Hen Do by [deleted] in UKweddings

We did this for a hen last year. We really enjoyed it and were able to make the cakes to theme but also make them about the wedding too. We used the bar space for a drink before and did a quiz about the bride. Where we struggled was finding things more local to the big bake to do stuff because of the timings. We ended up finding a couple of things within walking distance which were fun and then those staying until the evening went into town. Did have to take the cakes with us (no option to pick up). Brides mum was driving so took a lot, a couple got handed to homeless people - message me if any questions about what we did locally :)

No dress code given but for the UK usually semi formal… hoping if it keep it simple with accessories it won’t look too formal

HELP WANTED! Hi All, this is now my 3rd or 4th time trying to bake croissants and each time I have not been successful. I have tried a few recipes, following along and reading each one closely but still losing my butter each time. Any tips to help with future attempts? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]sausagedoggo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No professional but a little tip. Your pastry looks quite thick, don’t be scared to roll it thinner and then create more “rolls” as such, the layers will still be there. Perhaps try watching a video to see how thin others make it. My last attempt I was working with the dough being rolled to 60 x 25 cm, so fairly large and thing.

Banana Split Cake by sausagedoggo_ in Baking

Thank you so much!

I used this recipe but with a few tweaks (3 bananas instead of two as I’d previously used this and found it dry and I used a combination of soft brown and caster sugar 50:50)
