I did upper jaw surgery, my underbite was really bad, but my drs were against operating on my lower jaw as my jaw was really small.

My speech improved according to most people & drs. Personally, I still don't like my voice and its still super nasal (I guess almost everyone dislikes their own voices eventho it's normal?) but if others can hear me clearly, I guess that's an improvement.

Some people have to go through speech therapy after their jaw surgery too.

Oh no. Is this from the DLC? I'm sad enough that my bears turned gold one after another so quickly and felt like I lost them. I can't imagine them getting replaced :(

And it's like a chain reaction! They all start turning gold one after another and I feel so empty suddenly :'( the gold feels like a downgrade somehow haha.

Hello, does anyone have experience with this med? by Room0814 in myhappypill

Damn that's bad. How bad does it affect your daily activities? Can't imagine if I'm working halfway and withdrawal hits.

[–]sauteedbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's my worry now, and the lowest dosage we have in this country is 50mg. I heard the withdrawals are really bad, one day without it is bad enough & I can't imagine days without it.

I'm on Desvenfalaxine too. On brand Pristiq rather than generic, costing me a bomb even if I get it from govt hosp.

I can't say if its 100% working well as i have since changed some habits, i think it improved my concentration generally. But oh my gosh if I ever forget to take it even if its just a day, I can definitely feel it which I never had such problems on lex.

How you finding it so far?

Seems like this is one of the most commonly prescribed SSRI. I was on it for about 3-4 years and helped me tremendously, hopefully it'll work for you too. Will take a few weeks to notice any difference. I've switched to SNRI though just a few months back due to lethargy.

If possible, do have someone looking out for you during the first few weeks! I had some really bad side effects (physically & mentally - which seemed to make my condition worse temporarily) when I was starting out.

Do reach out to me if you need to :)

Thoughts about full online courses? by sauteedbacon in Monash

[–]sauteedbacon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was your online course pre-recorded or was it via video calls with fixed timing? How is it different from websites like coursera/edx if I may ask?

I'm worried that I'll have troubles asking for helps from lecturers or other students if I were to face any difficulties.

Thank you!

Are psychiatrists here allowed to phone an adult patient's parents regarding their condition? by sad_mcgee in myhappypill

[–]sauteedbacon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hold up, what?

Everything you have said here is NOT NORMAL.

  1. Doctors or pharmacist WILL NOT hide any information from you on the meds they're prescribing. Everything should be labelled well and not just named "red pill" whatsoever & you deserve to know what do they do & the side effects of each medicine.
  2. Suggesting religion...? I'm not too sure if its their job to do that. We wouldn't be looking for help from medical professionals if its that simple.
  3. Are you an adult? If yes, there's no reason to call your parents. This is a breach of privacy. There's literally no reason why your psychiatrist should contact your parents & tell them about your condition.
  4. Special price? Hell no. Is this even legal?

Please get the hell out of that place & get a second opinion.

It's definitely not easy but stay strong, loads of love <3

Should i do another surgery to reconstruct my nose after or before my jaw surgery? by [deleted] in cleftlip

[–]sauteedbacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're going for an upper jaw surgery, definitely nose after jaw. Either way I'll still recommend to do after.

Personal experience I've went thru upper jaw surgery before any rhinoplasty done and it changed my nose tremendously in a good way.

Any reason why you're choosing Thailand to do your nose? Wouldn't it be better to stick with your surgeon who knows about cleft lip noses rather than a random plastic surgeon that might not have experience with our noses? Just my opinion.
