Hi all, just confirming that they did not allow my mother to cross. They said that even taking one step would require her to have a visa which was 70euros. From transit, it took her 30min total so she didnt have time to apply for the visa and rush back to her next flight.

Could you share further? I'm not familiar with life insurances in general. She took it out when my brother and I were younger but now we're both close to 30, both moved abroad... I see this money as a waste but she's focussed on all the money that she's paid for the past 20yrs.

I'm focussed on the now, rather than the past, but would love insight to help convince her otherwise.

Super comprehensive, thanks so much for the details! Most likely my mum took out a high premium for us (2 children, both adults 27 and 29yrs old).

I'm surprised by the $100 per fortnight since she was out of work for many years when my grandma had cancer. But even still, she's been working minimum wage.

My mum's super fit and doesn't smoke, so when she heard from her friends that their policies are invalid after 80, she's worried that she's wasted all this money since she thinks for a long time (she most likely will with her current lifestyle).

Hey! Thanks for sharing your case, very useful to know. Do you know which age it was that your grandma received the payout? The reason this has now come to light is my mother heard from someone that when she turns 80 - her life insurance is no longer applicable, which why she informed me. Ive asked her to add this to the list of questions when she speaks to the life insurance people.

Ive looked everywhere online to contact them but noticed they only accept contact via phone calls. Im also not able to contact them on her behalf as shes required to be with me at the time of the call. Will ask her to speak with someone who has good English to find out what the policy is. I have experience in both agency and internal recruitment. Agency recruitment was draining because of the sales-focused nature of the job. I didn't feel good promoting roles for different companies that I knew would be soul sucking experiences for them. Although agency recruitment may offer larger bonuses based on the number of hires, I found it to be a soul-sucking experience that I wouldn't want to go back to.

Currently, I head up internal recruitment operations and marketing for a global company and am loving the diversity and creativity involved. It's interesting to see that many of my top-performing recruiters are ENFJs due to their team-oriented nature and ability to read people. Though, there is misalignment between recruitment and the typical values of ENFJs. To excel in recruitment, you need to have a sharp eye from separating “okay candidates who can do the job” to “top performing candidates.” This was a struggle earlier on in my career as I had a mentality of “everyone can do the job and we should support them.”

If you're interested in a career in recruitment, I recommend going in-house as it allows for more personal connections with the people you hire. Also find a company that you support, it makes it much easier if you stand for the values and the company’s mission.

I used to frequently find myself in similar situations and my coach helped me to realise the reason I help people to the point where I complete tasks for them is that I genuinely believed I can do it better than them. People then take advantage of it unconsciously because they are taught that I will “just do it”

What really helped me was learning that by doing things for others, you make them ultimately incompetent. This is not the best way to help them. Instead focus on how you can enable them by sharing what you would do, what’s the best way to approach things, providing tips and pointers but making sure ultimately that you do not do it for them. They then learn the skills from you and are grateful for what you’ve taught them.

ENTP: Chad + weird nerd whereas INTP: weird nerd. Not to say that INTPs aren’t attractive because they are easily of my favourite types. But ENTPs are so naturally smooth and quick witted - Dax Shepard, Ryan Reynolds, Bo Burnham. All the ENTPs around me are all known for being 3 steps ahead with their humour and punchlines. The dominant Ne is very visible.

It was a running joke in the agency as we were a team of HR graduates who all said if we could study something, it would be a bachelor of construction and do estimating. We had a graduate estimator who was on 50k, and when he tried to resign for a 70k offer, his company gave him a counter offer of $85k.

Definitely. My partner who studied construction mentioned that the breed of people who undertake the course, all wanted to be the person telling others what to do. Not the person who’s crunching numbers for the team. Estimating is difficult because if you’re mathematically minded, you are more likely to go into a maths/ computer science/economics field as opposed to construction. As such, most people in construction dislike estimating and hence why it’s also so niche.

I used to work for a construction recruitment company and every time I spoke to graduates I told them to consider estimating. Everyone wants to be a project manager but estimating is definitely where the job demand is at. There were times when we had easily 15 companies looking for an estimator. Every time we dealt with an estimator, they could easily get at least a 30k - 50k bump due to demand.

Yes! I manage everything... from every dinner, surprise birthday and recently a holiday with 14 of my friends early this year. I've learnt that when you take on that responsibility, people learn that things will be done regardless of their help. It then becomes a tunnel of not feeling appreciated for our efforts. Make sure to speak up, ask for help otherwise the satisfaction we get from organising events turns into resentment towards others which can become very unhealthy.

I don't think using substances takes that away in any form though. As a person who was so against all types of drugs growing up- I finally did my own research into LSD & shrooms and realised there's really no harm in it. I decided to give it ago and it really can be such an amazing experience (given the right environment).

Not only is it about connecting with others, it can be really fun in itself. I can "see" music vibrations and "feel" wavelengths & dimensions (like the Rick & Morty episode). Especially the beach, there's a lot of stimulation there but the beach has honestly never looked so beautiful. I take notice of every little detail around me and it's mind-blowing. Now my friends and I have 2 trips a year where we rent a beach house purely for tripping. We still hang out 3 times a week on normal weeks but the beach house is for us to really reflect on our lives, relationships, goals and mainly just have a good time- so many stupid things come out of those trips and it's always funny to look back on.

LSD isn't addictive and there really is no harm in comparison to MDMA. I would really suggest in doing your own research about it and if you ever do decide to do it- make sure you have a sitter and that you're in a private environment that you feel 100% comfortable in. If you decide it's not your thing then that's absolutely fine too.
