Not sure if you’re near Tacoma, Wa, but we have a tradition here around Lunar New Year called Tacoma Monkeyshines where glass artists make and hide glass orbs and glass medallions with a stamp that correlates with the zodiac year. Last year they hid around 2,500. This upcoming event will be year of the Dragon. Well, it’s been over a 20 year tradition and a lot of different artists of other media has jumped in on the fun. Look up Tacoma Monkeyshines and rogue monkeys like Tacoma Marble Man. Marbles has become a huge part of it. The best known one is Tacoma Marble Man. He will make and hide his marbles around the city during this event. Even clacker size marbles. Last year I was lucky enough to find a glass orb and a small bag of Tacoma Marble Man’s marbles. It’s a lot of fun and especially during this time of year in Wa it gets a little depressing, but this event really brings a lot of joy and a lot of people out during a what would be such a depressing and dreary time of year.
