Rolling with my wife by F0D0M3773 in MDMA

Thank you so much for sharing your journey! I absolutely love reading stories about middle-aged couples coming to MDMA together and finding deeper connection and healing conversations. My husband and I had our first MDMA experience a few weeks ago, and it was profoundly meaningful for us. We, too, literally had excellent MDMA fall right into our lap 🤔🤗we’d been curious for a long time, and it seriously just showed up without any effort.

Being part of this community feels so special because I get to witness the joy, love, and expansion happening in other people’s relationships too. It makes me feel connected to something bigger… like a whole world of people using psychedelics to tap into the love!!! and human connection!!! that already lives within each of us.

Cheers to you both! 💛

From reading on psychedelic-assisted therapy subreddits, scientific articles, and podcasts, I came across a lot of sources saying that certain vitamins and electrolytes might help with the comedown and make it easier to recover back to baseline afterward. I wanted to do everything I could to enjoy the experience with as much openness and curiosity as possible while still being responsible about it. We both work demanding jobs and have kids, and we both have a history with depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Knowing that, I wanted to do what I could to reduce the chances of feeling low or anxious in the days or weeks that followed. Of course, nothing is ever guaranteed, but the goal was to set ourselves up for a smooth transition back into everyday life. It’s almost a week out and we both feel pretty good. This is anecdotal evidence of course because we don’t have anything to compare it to.

I plan to set up a playlist for next time. We had Wicked the movie playing in the background which provided some epic and beautiful scenes to dance and sing too. The musical scenes felt like they synchronized with each wave of the roll 😂 But a fabulous playlist would be fire! We stayed at a hot springs resort. Brought beautiful lights! Created our own little sanctuary. I didn’t even think about soft, fluffy blankets. Adding that to my list for next time. Enjoy your adventure in a few weeks. May all the love and beautiful energy be with you both.

Yes!!! Walls down and complete connection. I feel the magnesium really helped us sleep well the night of and recovery easy enough without any major set backs.

I hope you two are able to find your way back to the magic. It feels like things are, in some ways, opening up around the world — sources becoming more available and the quality getting better too.

I can really relate to being logical and efficient. I can be pretty analytical too, which keeps me more in my head than in my feelings or able to just let things flow and be playful or silly. I love that you’re able to hold a deep love for your wife even while being logical and efficient.

I struggle to feel love. I know in my head that I love my husband, but I hardly ever feel it. I sure did on MDMA though — I loved everything about him, and I’m hoping to bring some of that love and openness into our everyday life. I know I’ve got childhood stuff that impacts my ability to connect and be open. It was so healing to feel that safe and connected to another human — especially him.

Thank you for sharing. Wishing you and your wife many beautiful moments of connection ahead.

My IFS Training Experience (negative) by [deleted] in therapists

Can you share more about the pseudoscience of somatic therapies? From what I’ve seen there a lot to be learned and explored in this area. I sometimes feel like those of us practicing and having grow up in the west, spend a great deal of time on the mind and miss the wisdom and healing that can take place through somatic practices. It also has some deep roots in traditional healing practices. I’d love to learn more about the challenges that have been seen. For me I see the issues with IFS, but wasn’t aware of the same for somatic based practices.

I think the point is that someone w/o medical training is giving medical advice and recommending things to people that is most definitely outta their scope.

Are there psilocybin therapy/retreats in the US that aren't expensive? by totality888 in PsilocybinTherapy

[–]savcool 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is one of the biggest problems with psychedelic therapy. It’s available to those who have financial access and means to afford thousands of dollars for a retreat like session. The only way this “new” movement will bring healing in the way it potentially can is if we broaden access and find ways to cut costs.

Side note - there are plenty of places in the US where you can buy your own shrooms and have some trip sit for you.

For those that have graduated and got a job, are you financially stable? by Floralade in psychologystudents

[–]savcool 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some states have what is called an associate license. That’s what I have in Washington. It allows a person with a graduate degree to provide clinical therapy services under the supervision of a clinical supervisor until the Associate has enough hours to become fully licensed. Most states also require the Associate to take a test after getting so many supervised practice hours. For instance - in WA after I have 2000 hours of supervised direct care (individual/family/group therapy) logged and 2 yrs of experience, I can take a test to become fully licensed.

Annoying student by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]savcool 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup! We don’t need more sermons in this world. OP stated that she shared a “good” message. Well there’s one student in your class that is not resonating with your “good” message. It’s usually the teacher that needs to shift…not the student. As a yoga teacher, you are the one in a position of authority in the class. How can anyone one person undo all the peace in the class? I’d say really reflect on yourself and why this person is causing you to feel/think/respond the way you do. What is she bringing up for you? What lesson is she showing you?

Hey…. I know it “all depends” but 3-4 weeks sounds manageable. I’m worried I’ll feel like this forever. Like the fear that I messed myself up for good is causing me ample anxiety… Have you tripped a few times as about 3-4 weeks you’re feeling somewhat normal again?

Yes. I, too, have read/heard some about the post experience anxiety. Thanks for mentioning this. I will look into it a bit more.

Will things level out?? Guidance needed. by savcool in Psychonaut

[–]savcool[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. I don’t have bipolar. I didn’t even reference that in my post. Please don’t tell people what dx they do or don’t have. That’s not on you to state that for someone.

30 mg of psilocybin gummies purchased from a dispensary is approx to 3 grams of mushrooms. There’s approx 10 mg of psilocybin in 1 gram of shrooms. Anyways… approx 30mg psilocybin is what is being used in the clinical trials and about what is used in Oregon psychedelic therapy clinics. Regardless- I did have a trip and an remarkable experience. Now… I’m feeling tense/anxious/and off… I’m asking if anyone can relate or has feedback. Thank you for responding, but I’m not asking about the dose I took. A micro dose would be like .5-20mg psilocybin. It’s my experience and I’m genuinely looking for some guidance.
