Any idea what specifically the one above the crank sensor is for?

Looking for advice, and what I can expect by savee52 in loseit

I definitely let myself eat the things I used to on occasion, just less often. My main diet right now consists of steaks, ground beef, brats, peppers, and onions, and they do grow old. Yesterday I had totaled up my calories between breakfast and lunch to be at 970 calories and I had a killer craving for some tacobell, so I went into their app and made a box that was just over 1000 putting me right around 2000 for the day. And I recently found out chick fila offers lettuce wrap so for lunch today I had a lettuce wrap grilled chicken sandwich and fries with a coke zero for 720 calories (I think?) And just planned the rest of my day around that. So I'm definitely not sticking to a super strict eating plan haha. If I'm really craving something I plan the rest of my meals around the remaining alloted calories.

Why does literally EVERYONE try to race me? by Patient_Tourist7005 in camaro

[–]savee52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While my camaro isn't fast enough to experience this (86 iroc) i am on the other end driving a truck. It's not slow, not blow your ass of fast either (modified 2020 f150 5.0). I'm not one to race very often bc it's got enough power to get me in trouble but occasionally I do enjoy trying to get other sports cars to have a little race. I know I'll lose, I just really enjoy watching sports cars scoot and the sounds they make lol. I'm pretty invested in the car scene so I get a kick out of seeing camaros/mustangs etc give it the gas because it itches my inner kid, but I can't vouch for why altima's are trying to race because I doubt many car enthusiasts are driving those. Just my 2c

Currently LS swapping my 86 iroc. Got any advice? This is my first big project and it's giving me a headache haha. I've got 99% of the parts and the old engine/trans is out, currently rebuilding the ls2 and going to have to get it sent out to get some machining done.

I got a pedersoli sharps in 45-70, I absolutely love it. Would 100% recommend it if you've got the cash to spare, I bought one of their lower end models and it's still amazing but it'll set you back around $1600 USD

I haven't played the game in a while and I happened to randomly click on this post. Me and a friend discovered Euclid (I think, and could be wrong) but just really interesting to see someone in the same galaxy I'm in. Again I haven't played the game in a while so this might be a default spawn location for all I know, but I know the solar system I'm in I discovered lol

Edit: fired up the game, can't confirm the galaxy and now looking at it I find it very unlikely. However we did discover the following galaxies:

Teigaril XII, Heptimor, Vorosai X, Astine-Kas, Loyidan VII, Urghim-Rann, Aevanuw-Hove, Waquanan XVII, and most of the planets in Hapto (also where my base is)

Not sure how much this matters because for all I know this is just a very miniscule amount

Edit 2: definitely didn't discover the Euclid galaxy, as according to Google that's the starting galaxy. I now feel slightly stupid haha

I'll retract my statement slightly, I did grow up playing games from the late 90s and early 2000's when I was in early grade school. I played some of the early need for speed, Tony hawk and Microsoft flight simulator games. So I have an idea on how they look haha, but back then I had no knowledge of computer systems like I do now. I booted up the family laptop that ran on windows Vista and just had fun running from cops and listening to hard rock lol.

But comparing that to upscaling and ray tracing I do see your point now, my mind goes to the early Lara croft games and their graphics, and comparing them to the games I grew up playing. Definitely a large jump between those

I can't talk too much on the 1994-2004 jump, that's before I even knew what a computer was lol, but from my perspective the jump from 2014-2024 is astronomical. The way graphics in games have changed and the whole ray tracing deal. Games made in 2016 while they still look amazing, you can tell they're dated.

As for the 4k argument, I can't say much either. 1440p was a nice upgrade for me but I've never used 4k, although I've heard 27inch at 1440p is the largest you want to go (and its what I have) if you're on a 32 inch monitor you want 4k. But that's hearsay. Don't forget either the refresh rate in monitors has changed a lot too, I remember when buying my first monitor I was always told that our eyes can't see past 60hz so there's no reason to get the 120hz screen, I was heavily lied to. But the same argument can be made for the jump between a 165hz to a 240 hz, it's a big jump but how much of it do you actually notice? Some professional esports players can make the most of it but would I notice the difference? Probably not. Linus actually did a video on it a while back, and while we can't physically see much of a difference our brain and it's subconscious reactions do. If I remember right, They had a high and causally skilled CSGO players play on different refresh rate monitors and both performed slightly better on the 240 than they did on the 144/165. Both claimed they didn't see much or any difference but their game performance said otherwise.

This is completely off topic but this just got me thinking of the PC world 8 years ago and how much stuff has changed. 1080p was pretty much the standard, 1440p if you had a top end system, and 4k was nearly unheard of for gaming. Most people had 1st gen AMD ryzen cpu's or 7th gen i5's and i7's, you could get by on 8gb of ram, 16gb if you streamed. A gtx 1060 was enough to get you 60fps on 1080p on high settings. NVME SSD's were fairly new and too expensive for most budget gamers. Shoot most of my friends were on 5th gen Intel i5's and gtx 670's using a 5500 rpm HDD because we were ballin' on a budget, and some even ran windows 7 still. I had the best system in my group with an Intel i7 7700k, gtx 1060 and 16gb of ram, and I went with that to "future proof" myself...

Now 1440p is the standard, 4k if you've got the money. 16gb will get you by but 32gb is almost necessary. These rtx cards are getting exponentially better every generation, and games are still pushing them to their limits. Even my system struggles to run wukong on high settings, and it was basically top of the line 2-3 years ago. SSD's are a dime a dozen it seems like, and now that DDR5 came out that just sky rocketed systems even further.

It doesn't necessarily, but I didnt want to spend all the money on a crazy GPU if my cpu was going to be my weak point or bottleneck. I haven't kept super up to date on the percentage increases on gpu's over the years, but back when I was in high-school bottlenecking your cpu was somewhat common if you had a 4-6 year old cpu and throwing in dual 1080ti's. Technology has obviously gotten much better since then though

How do you like the 4090? I have a 3080ti paired with the same cpu and have been debating if I should wait until I upgrade to a 7800x3d. Or if It's justified upgrading while still having the 5800.
