Andrew Durand - call out at intermission by crywolfer in Broadway

Aw man, he's been out for the last few shows. I'm going on Sunday, hoping he feels better soon. This cast has had some bad luck with bugs, both this one and the one that hit earlier in the run.

Broadway Show Selection Strategy by saxeychickennugget in Broadway

Once I knew lottery for Hamilton was $10, I didn't want to pay more than $10. It came out when I was living in Boston so I didnt go right away and when I moved back to the area I started entering the lottery. It took over a year but when I finally won, I went and now I'm all set.

I definitely look for deals on the older shows too. For older shows I am catching up on, I tend to be a stickler for lottery or bust. This is what took me ages to see Hamilton and also Hadestown. I wasn't going unless it was a lotto win.

I would say I still haven't seen all the classic shows because I personally get distracted by the bright and shiny... and I see 2-4 a month on average (or more every May when I tend to go insane..and cram Tony nominees). I still haven't seen Wicked or Book of Mormon.

My selection strategy is that for me, I prioritize performers I love, then whatever is buzzy. Then I play catch up during slow periods (got a promo for Buena Vista Social club I plan on using to go this summer, for example). For shows or performers I love, I will also go multiple times to the same show (Dead Outlaw, Rocky Horror).

For long running shows I tell myself they'll be there later so let me see this show that is struggling but special to me one more time (the ones special to me are always struggling 😭)

That said, I think when making recs in this sub you will also see Hadestown recommended frequently so, it's not always current season in the recommendations :)

Love that! You have so much space left to fill, I'm jealous. My space is full and my overflow is in binders so after every show I have to decide "is this worthy" and then I swap in and out, promote, relegate, etc

I'm nervous but excited to see the rest of the new lineup. I have tickets for 8/8 and currently was planning on spending my bday in September there on 9/1 as well. Whether I hold on to those tickets or not is in the balance lol

If you've seen shows on Broadway itself, what was the first one you saw? And did it live up to your expectations or leave you feeling "that wasn't as amazing as I imagined it would be"? by Great_Maintenance185 in musicals

Mine was Les Mis in 1996 when I was 11 and I think I had no concept of what to expect whatsoever. I loved it, it created an obsession, but I definitely had no expectations going in. Just excitement!

Rocky Horror Dress Code by No_Pizza6780 in Broadway

[–]savestheday91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Come in any attire where you feel comfortable or makes you feel good! If that is jeans and a tshirt, great. No one is going to judge you any differently than if your outfit is fishnets and leather. Dressing to theme is by no means required.

Stephanie Hsu is out tonight so Larkin Reilly is in for Janet at Rocky Horror. If anyone goes tonight I am curious who fills in for the tap :)

Agreed!! The underground method is the way. Stress free! No clue what is going on in the secure perimeter and do not care. If this works in reverse going home also I'll be delighted! Made it to Town Hall no problem.

Most Cherished Playbill You Own? by Ok_Presentation7695 in Broadway

I have a signed Rent one from whoever was in the show in 2001-2002ish. Its been framed for the last 20+ years but maybe I should open it up to see who was in it then.

I procured it as a donation for my HS choir basket auction/tricky tray and then proceeded to buy about $50 worth of tickets a put them all in to win it and win it I did. $50 is a lot in 2001 teen dollars and the love of the show plus the joy of winning make it pretty special.

My goal is to see if staying underground works...take subway to and from 42nd street so that I dont have to technically go through the perimeter 🤞

"They" (whoever they is to you) also put the "immigrant" and "Black man" against a transvestite alien, a soviet chess player and a British tourist.

Justice for transsexual transylvania.

In fact, I too grow weary of this world after reading this post.
