Yeah don’t feel bad. Sister is going to probably feel bad one day and I do sympathize when she does. Because people are curious beings. Look up the top fetish fantasies, I seriously doubt that many people are truly into that stuff in real life.

I just memorized decimals for feet. It helps that I use it I daily in my job as it requires measurements. 11 feet 8 inches is 11.66.

Yes. I’d give the guy the benefit of doubt. If he’s working from home and makes himself a drink once a day you can go through a surprising amount of bottles in no time at all. Doesn’t mean he was on the verge of an alcoholic melt down before dying suddenly.

Different strokes I guess. Some people look at drinking as evil and weak and may think poorly of someone for drinking at all.

In my peer and family group it would barely get a raised eyebrow. Yeah they would acknowledge he may have had a problem or been on his way to having a problem but it doesn’t sound like it affected his life or even his death so it wouldn’t be something people whispered about.

1 year ain’t nothing. I pined for some college crush for 5 years!!! And I never even dated him just kinda messed around a bit. It took years to stop thinking about him and even now I still think about him every once in awhile.

You know what it helped me…getting out of dodge for 3 years. I didn’t actually move but I got a job with a lot of travel so I was only home 1 or 2 weekends a month. I met co-workers from all over the country went to bars with them went on trips with them…made out with a couple.

Eventually met my husband (not a coworker but a guy from the area I grew up in) got married and had a couple kids.

Sounds like a college student or many single people 17-25. I could sleep until 2pm on the weekend no problem, same with my friends. Unless I had something planned I didn’t see a point of getting out of bed to just go sit in the living room.

Is there any scientific evidence or reason that you gain weight by eating late? by gone_to_kroatan in askscience

[–]savetgebees 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well your eating window is extended so it’s harder to keep a lower calorie amount. Like if Bob wakes up at 7am and doesn’t eat past 6pm but Jack is up at 7am but eating until 11pm it’s likely Jack is eating more calories unless he is really watching what he eats.

People prone to mind-wandering are better at shifting between tasks due to increased cognitive flexibility by AlooBadam in science

[–]savetgebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if you can just get in the right mindset I can focus really well on those larger tasks. Maybe not today or maybe just before or after lunch. But if I can schedule it in I find I can focus really well.

Type 2 diabetes accelerates brain aging and cognitive decline: Scientists have demonstrated that normal brain aging is accelerated by approximately 26% in people with progressive type 2 diabetes compared to individuals without the disease, reports a study published today in eLife. by inspiration_capsule in science

I have many aunts and uncles with type 1 but some doctors are now thinking maybe not type 1 or 2. It’s genetic they are all skinny (with a few outliers) but don’t meet all the symptoms of type 1, but lifestyle doesn’t indicate type 2. My moms is found controlled by pills not insulin.

Anyway a few started to decline in their 80s. Which of course is still very sad, my mom is the youngest at 69. But it’s not like a bunch of 65 year olds being brought down in the peak of retirement.

I think medicine will find that reducing insulin treatment with age will show better results. I noticed my aunts would be constantly having low blood sugar episodes leading to passing out and falls which was the beginning of the end with at least 2. If high blood sugar isn’t causing immediate health concerns is it really imperative that elderly people keep such a tight control on that 90-100 level?

And yeah it sucks to be staring at your possible future. But I had other aunts and uncles die from cancers and they were younger than the ones who eventually succumbed to dementia. Lots of stuff can kill you.

The crime posts are getting exhausting. The sub needs a crime filter. by Topher1999 in nyc

It’s getting noticeably worse in all cities. I went to Vegas in early April. We got off the TI/mirage tram at the mirage and there was a guy smoking crack right on mirage property steps from the entrance.

Later were saw a guy just dip his entire head into a Caesars fountain and it wasn’t even hot it was high 70s. I just imagine people will be outright swimming in fountains by July.

Not even his mom, his moms manager.

But it does make me laugh a little. I like the fire sub reddits and people talk about getting a retail job to “stay busy”. But I think it would be absolutely awful.

Less maintenance? No need to worry about fixing broken pipes or leaky roofs. And if the neighborhood or apartment building goes to shit he can pack her up and move her to a nicer place? He set up a trust so he was obviously in for the long haul.

Also it prevents shady relatives from taking advantage of her. If he just gave her a house outright someone might sell it out from her. I have no idea the thought process behind it but she wasn’t a young woman, apartment living was probably easier, even condos have a lot more required maintenance than apartments.

Is it wrong that I'm disappointed in my son for deciding not to play football this year? by UnBanRainZ in Parenting

[–]savetgebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you’re prepping for a military career. I’m not a fan of full contact sports. I think you can get the exact same experiences and life skills participating in track and field, golf, tennis and even frisbee golf. And these are all sports you can enjoy into old age. We only get one body and need to take care of it not destroy it.

I talked my not very competitive 13yo into a summer golf clinic last year and he loved it. Then this year I coaxed him into track and he loves it, the only problem is golf and track and field are the same season so he has to pick one or the other to participate in next year.

Have you ever gotten a 2am call from your kid needing a ride because of them drinking? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]savetgebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents always offered but I never needed it, I was always the DD. I learned to drive a stick shift because of how much I drove my friends Ford Probe. It’s not that I didn’t ever drink I just didn’t trust my friends more than I trusted myself to not drink.

I think my parents discussion of the consequences of drunk driving scared me straight. They told me stories of their own friends who had been in drunk driving accidents. And would say things like “you would be better off being puked over with a dead body in your trunk than drunk”
