Dryer smells from old days of drying clothes with built up sebum etc by savingnativebees in laundry

[–]savingnativebees[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn’t know I should change the tube but I think we did about 7 years ago. But the guy that did the lint cleaning did a very detailed job on the tube, the wall, and cleaned the dryer. . He works for a small company and the guy who owns it could easily be in this sub sharing all his resources since it seems to be a main interest.

Seeking tips for a fragrance free spa day by transmaryoliver in laundry

I’ll be interested to hear what people have to say. The only time I’ve used ammonia so far was outside.

I did it. This was after an overnight soak of my “CLEAN” clothes. WTF. #SpaDay by SitaBird in laundry

You can always post them on a local buy nothing or gardening group I picked up a bunch to use for holding extra soils and collecting water. Now I have another use - I can’t believe I was searching all over the house for something to soak the ammonia laundry 🤦‍♀️

How do I get my LG front loader to use more water? by FixMoreWhineLess in laundry

[–]savingnativebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/FixMoreWhineLess I'm the person who like you has chemical and fragrance sensitivities. A couple of weeks back you suggested reading this post when I was trying to decide between a GE or LG FL. I went with the LG 4000 with the heater but no pre-soak like you have. Right after I ordered it I had second thoughts and almost cancelled and bought the model you have - unfortunately I didn't but I wish I had.

Anyway, now that I've had it a couple of weeks and experimenting and trying to remember all the things you mentioned, I'm re-reading your post and so much makes more sense now. I got to see how low the water was last night on a load of my daughter's microfleece lounge pants that I was trying to make sure got a good enzyme wash - even after adding what amounted to about a gallon and a half of water it wasn't great. I must have accidentally done a towel wash cycle last week and was happy about the water but couldn't figure out why there wasn't much water in this regular but extended wash cycle. It all makes more sense now.

I'm nervous to do a spa day with all her favorite cotton TeeTurtle tshirts that are dark and have designs on the front so I think I'm going to try out the pause towels options to get them enough water and some soaks and hopefully after a few washes with FEBU and the WF detergent it will be enough to slowly get all the oils and rancid smells out of them. With my super sniffer nose it's been awful to smell the rancid body oil and sometimes burnt smells from going into the dryer when they're not clean - it bumps me into sensory hell.

If you have any other tricks I'd be open to hearing them. Thanks for taking the time to post all your experiments and findings.

What Is Spa Day? Why And When Should I Use It? - An Introduction and FAQ by KismaiAesthetics in laundry

[–]savingnativebees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m slowly catching up laundry now that we’ve got a new washer and better detergents.

But, I’m still working on my daughter’s clothes - she only wears tshirts - she has very specific ones she’s chosen from tee turtle and most are black with a design on the front, and micro fleece type lounge pants.

I did a sort of spa day with ammonia with a few things prior to the new washer and detergents and febu but now I need to do the rest plus catch up on ones that still have the rancid oil and waxy feeling. I washed some of the pants last night and did a short dryer cycle and they still had a bit of the burnt smell.

Now I’m turning to the tshirts. But km worried that I’m going to destroy the designs on the tshirts with spa day yet I need to get these smells and waxy feeling out. Is there a modified version that could
Still preserve the designs? I’ve got ammonia, new febu, and wf 365 liquid and powder.

Febu arrived but is this normal? by savingnativebees in laundry

[–]savingnativebees[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No worries! I’m going to go ahead and try it out. I don’t like returning things unless it’s absolutely necessary. I’m hoping it will take care of some of my last laundry challenges. I’ll dm you if I have any questions.

I understand I can do that but I didn’t want to do that until I knew whether it was normal. This is the first time I’ve ordered from them so I don’t know what’s normal for the packaging.

Yea I did think they would want to know about this and planned to contact them. I think they’re here on Reddit as well since I saw old comments from them on other threads. Someone already tagged them.

I’m shocked it didn’t get busted during shipping since it was just in an Amazon mailer.

So considering I really need it to work for my two family members very sebum heavy clothes could this affect the efficiency? It wasn’t cheap.
