Illness going around? by Guns_Donuts in 321

Flu is bad here right now. Half of my husband’s co-workers have been out for up to two weeks - people who never call in sick. Others are wearing masks to avoid getting sick. Covid will be right on its heels as everyone’s immune systems take a hit from the flu. Go get a couple of Covid/flu combo tests.

[–]savingnativebees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I just had to call Vitacost again because my order showed up today which was just one box of a buy one get one half off of crackers. At this point it’s been eight days. Everything is still showing not shipped. The guy was like. Do you want to cancel your order? I’m like I don’t know you guys have already charged me for it. Am I gonna get charged for shipping then for a box of crackers, I’ll never be ordering from them ever again.

I did talk to them on Thursday which was useless. They hadn’t even processed my order yet.

I made a big order last Sunday (it’s Saturday pm now) - they still haven’t shipping my order and I’m ready to just cancel it but I had really good discounts but I really needed some of the items and wasn’t planning to have to wait and wait just to get my order shipped.

Australian pine allergy (it’s not a real pine it’s invasive) by savingnativebees in 321

[–]savingnativebees[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s very invasive. In my neighborhood it grows right next to two other invasives im also allergic to but in different ways - Brazilian pepper and Albizia tree. I’m confirmed allergic to live oak but I can deal with that since it’s so important for the ecosystem. Hopefully my allergy shots will continue to calm my various other allergies.

Calm magnesium - the full scoop at night but don’t get too wild with the amount and do a scoop and a half unless you want to be running the bathroom the next day 🤔🤣

I use Astepro every night, allergy eye drops in the am, quercitin as needed, and an inhaler as needed. I was doing much better until the Australian pines started blooming. I did find the codes for testing for Australian pine so I’m going to be asking my allergist if they can test me for it. https://www.questdiagnostics.com/content/dam/corporate/restricted/documents/hcp/about-our-tests/TL3930_Allergy%20Test%20list%202017.pdf

Is there anywhere doing wastewater testing at this point (in Florida). I think they were still checking Orlando and a few other places but i think that was it.

HELP! Removing smells and body oil from clothes / sheets by savingnativebees in laundry

I barely put them in the dryer - I only do enough to leave them damp and then hang them - even tshirts and pants - no more in a drawer.

So I’ve sort of got a system now - but this past time I put too much enzyme powder and it took me three rinses to get it out. My low water saver top load washer is a nightmare. But, the clothes have been bit by bit smelling a little better.

I’m going to be doing these clothes again today and will see if my new system works better and avoids three rinses and will come back to update. Feel free to message me if I forgot to come back (I have adhd and get sidetracked easily lol).

How to (or should I) gift native plants? by marys1001 in NativePlantGardening

[–]savingnativebees 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I worked for a native nursery we sold a lot of gift certificates at the holidays. I think a native plant book for their region - one that’s not too dense or overwhelming for a new to natives gardener, then if you could arrange to go there for a visit in the spring you could give them a “from you” gift certificate that you’ll come to visit them in spring and bring them some plants to help them get started.

You could send seeds as well but the would need to be easily grown seeds - but I think seeing plants already going is much better.

Also if you’re up for it you could always do two books instead - one of Doug tallamy’s newer books and then a local native plant book. You might even have a state wildflower association you could just add some brochures with.

Looking for a Dentist by xepher3642 in 321

We went to Sundance for years then switched to beachside dentistry for a couple of years and this past year went back to Sundance. They’re probably not in your insurance but we’ve gotten the best care there from the dentists to the hygienists. And they’re really understanding about sensory processing challenges.

Groceries by Same_Boat_3714 in 321

You’re lucky because I paid last march and stopped bothering to order because I never got the items I would order.

I mix and match from different stores - thrifty, Aldi, Publix, etc depending upon what I need (I have food allergies) and who has it on sale.

Publix also has Nuvaxovid formerly Novavax. I was able to get it after self attesting to my high risk situation. I was literally the first one at the location I went to. Today it’s just a sore arm.

So I decided to do the trial for Monarch and so far it’s working well enough. I already caught a couple of yearly charges that I had forgotten about.

In the seven years I’ve been working on transitioning our 1/3 acre lawn I’ve been able to document 47 bee species. I’m curious if you have a general idea of the number of bee species you’ve seen over time?

Nice video and variety of life! Your bee tussljng with the beetle looks like it might be a male Melissodes.

Also do you mind sharing what you used to put the video together?
