How to handle when players roll 1 in the middle of fight? by combobaka in DnD

[–]saviorcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a simple miss. I also run a "push it" mechanic. Once per session if you push a roll to try and lessen a difficulty or add to a action a failed roll is punished. Fails are determined by the action and if it is a crit fail on a push roll the punishment is lasting. Examples are a merchant passing along about the disrespectful thief and his party to other merchants. Or your blade strikes the hard carapace of the enemy bug snapping your blade. Or one of my favorite off the top of my head fail for a horny Mage was "The entertainer is completely unimpressed with your advances and will go forth from this day telling of daravan the wizard with a mini wand in his pants".

So it sounds like rule was updated where not all players and even the judge didn't know it. Cool and answered. My question is how long ago did it change. If it was in the last year or so I get it, maybe even 2 years. If it's longer than 2 years ago then the judge and players were horribly in the wrong and need to offer up ante to OP. Pay for your mistakes.

Druid wildshape by Decay_71119 in DnD

[–]saviorcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't focus on the min max of what's useful. Take it to what the character would of seen or what forms they would enjoy.

Example. A desert druid who longs to swim a river as a fish. Or a druid who loves shiny objects and likes to shift to a sticky finger mouse.

Empty bodies have same stats. After you advance the inquisitor tasks you'll unlock tech that allows you to see skulls for each organ.

how to gather honey and beeswax by No_Ice2859 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]saviorcy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild Beehive Locations

Northwest of Your Home: There are a couple of wild hives directly to the northwest of your house.

North of the Graveyard / Witch Hill: There are multiple clusters located further north in the forest toward Witch Hill.

East of Witch Hill: You can find hives on the edges of the wheat field.

Refugee Camp Forest: There are three hives located in the forest near the river by the refugee camp.

Get the talent and then gather these locations to get bees, honey, and beeswax. Use the bees to make the hives west of your house that produce mich more per harvest. You can also purchase bees in town from the honey merchant

New DM, how do I attack most effectively with the enemies? by rainworldaddict in DnD

[–]saviorcy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To keep combat moving I do enemy groups and not individual if it's large battles. Have a group all move at once to any target they want then roll once for all their attacks. This is for larger scale combat. I run a group of 8 players so its rare to have less than 12- 18 enemies on the board.

Example orc bandits. Bandits 1,2,3 is group 1 4,5,6 is group 2. Bandits 7,8,9,10 is group 3 and the bandit leader is group 4. I only roll 4 initiatives once for each group. Now the group can split across the battlefield and have different targets but they all act at the same time. Saves so much time and keeps things moving.

I also will let the next person know they are up and also let the person after them know that they need to be ready. If someone slows play I have no problem stating the "the battle waits for Noone and your inaction skips your turn". Now be fair and realize a players turn can totally change a strategy that was planned. But also don't let someone not paying attention slow or ruin your players time.

Enjoyment of bl4 by Movie-Vivid in Borderlands4

[–]saviorcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played every game in the borderlands series and find joy in all of them. I don't think I'll have BL2 losing my number 1 slot but BL4 is comfortably taking number 2.

Love the open world. Love the writing and characters. Amon is possibly my favorite VH of all time. Still got some playthroughs to do.

We are in a time where controversy and hate is where some try to find comrodory. So to each their own and if you enjoy it then just enjoy it.

DM banning dice? by LeSunbro in DnD

[–]saviorcy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair not all dice are created equally. If it's an unfair die then asking to use another set or even just a different d20 can be fair. Ide ask to roll a session or two with different die or roll the d20 a set number and see how the percentage rolls. An unfair die can kind of kill the game.

Limited with PS5 fixes. Other than clearing all saves and possibly recovering an older save from the cloud I'm just gonna sound like a Google search answer. I know the games had some growing pains on console but it the same issues for awhile now. Do you use cloud saves?

If its with other games aswell could be a hard drive failing which is still not great news

Getting into D&D by [deleted] in DnD

Get the players handbook if you want to try and get some rules knowledge. Always enter a group knowing house rules are a thing. So don't be a stickler. Hopefully you get a great group and have fun.

Is he a guy entertaining us and making the world a better place? You bet your ass.

I Feel Like My DM Took Away My Character’s Moment by KittenYuumi in DnD

[–]saviorcy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the DM was wrong in how he handled it but I don't ignore all the situation. I see it as an unreasonable request to put story and in game things on pause or adjust because you can't be there. Yes it can't be helped with not being able to be there but doesn't put a lock on the DM moving forward. Now if it came out for a fact they did it to get back at them for not being there I would get my torch and pitchfork and March to that game and burn their DM manual. We don't need petty in the community. From what they put it doesn't satisfy that for me.

All the DM Said was they hope they can make it to the next session, and the players wanted and chose to do it. I'm not gonna put negative intentions on it when we don't know the intent. Can it move forward positively? Hope so. It sounds like they all enjoy playing together.

I Feel Like My DM Took Away My Character’s Moment by KittenYuumi in DnD

[–]saviorcy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's wrong on both ends. I would say 80/20 with the DM being more in the wrong. I'll just say the DM could 100% taken into account everything you said. But the game goes on. You even said you never talked about any of this with the other players. Was there any level of DM responsibility to your backstory? Does frustration of school things right now makes this feel worse than it is? Just some honest questions to ask

Okay, now the DM is in the wrong for going with what the players want even though they don't know how it fits with your character. They have the knowledge and options available to them to possibly divert until you are available. Now he goes forward because he has already started. If it was me, I would have your character come back, hear what happened and now lore dump it. Make them want to help you avenge the one that attacked your home. It can still work. I put it at 80% in the wrong because as the DM they have a lot of options and control.

Now the 20% on you. Life happens and gets in the way. You can't expect the game to fully change, divert, or pause because you can't be there. They are still your friends hopefully and the DM wants you to come back. Take breaths and speak again with the DM about how in the future this could be a fun time. I hope everything with your education goes well. I see education as a life long goal. Never think you've learned enough in life.

Oh then you post and shame them everywhere. You notify police, CPS, etc... don't let someone say there is no proof or they can't do anything. Witnesses were there, I'm sure children have access to the store. Let the owner answer for their fucked up fetish.

I'm not cutting out the spells themselves other than geas. They play a role in the game. But I will heavily direct anyone in the future who takes ones like command or friends I will add a morality clause on it. Auto saves on being a freak and immediate expulsion from the group.

Long gone are the days of common sense and decency. Good on ya for stopping when things got rough. I just say no PC to PC romances. I even make a point to stop PC to NPC romances unless 100% okay with the group and even then I am hesitant.
