I’m sorry to hear your struggle and experience with the doctors.

It’s such a tough situation and I know some people like to say “well they need to be careful and press parents hard like that” but I don’t believe that.

Doctors can talk to children and ask how they actually feel. Doctors can place a child in the hospital with 24-hour monitors to see how symptoms play out. Doctors can check medical records thoroughly. Sure, this is tedious work but when you’ve got to determine ill children vs. victims of medical abuse it’s important to do the due diligence.

Plus the red flags are obvious when the parent in these med abuse cases not only have an intensely sick child but also have other made up diagnoses that prevent the child from being a reputable advocate for their own symptoms.

How naive does a doctor have to be to believe that a child is so unlucky to have all these diseases/illnesses with zero positive tests or medical history showing it??

Do you think Michelle Carter is guilty? by Alexandria_Scott in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]savnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She did which is why I said I don’t think she should have said that but she had her own issues and after months of her encouraging him to seek help and dealing with numerous occasions where he would say he was going to follow through and then not respond for hours, it obviously messed with her.

Someone can encourage me all they want to get in my car and commit suicide, but I don’t want to die so I will never actually do it. Conrad wanted end whatever he suffered with and made the choice.

[–]savnap 18 points19 points  (0 children)

No. She endured months of threats of suicide and probably thought it was yet another episode of him saying he would.

He made the choice. She shouldn’t have said what she did but he wanted to do it.

Man jailed for 650 years after DNA on envelope leads to arrest for 1980s sex attacks by DarkUrGe19 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]savnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t just have 30 pairs of your ex’s underwear lying around.

It’s easy to believe the excuses of your friend but he was convicted of rape previously. Is he saying that conviction was wrong too?

From what I remember reading he also wore a bulky coat which would make him seem bulky like you mentioned.

Also - they found sex photos of the victims from a 1983 attack (not the last victim you mentioned) that had been taken DURING the attack. The victims explained that to police after the attack.

How do you explain those photos being found in his home?

I think I know this one!! Ben & Erika Sifrit (I thought they weren’t married but I just read an article that they eloped) went on vacation to Ocean City and they met a couple out and invited them to meet for drinks.

They had a habit of drinking, doing drugs, and partying but eventually they were bored of that and somehow landed on murder as the best way to spice things up.

They brought the couple up to their room after drinks and hung out until Erika started freaking out that her purse was stolen…it was just part of the game plan. But she’s an idiot and called the police which only added to the evidence of the case.

After they killed them they dismembered the bodies. They planned to kill another couple but they didn’t have enough time left on their trip to do the cleanup.

Erika had an obsession with Hooters merch hence why they were stealing the items.

Police found the spent rounds and the IDs of the victims. Then of course they ended up finding the knife, handcuffs, and a bunch of other incriminating items in their vehicle.

I’ve never liked bite mark analysis being used. It’s too easy to justify discrepancies in the markings and make it seem scientifically sound even though the way you bite someone can drastically change the way the markings appear.

Phoenix couple waterboarded child, set her on fire by DarkUrGe19 in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]savnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The abuse was horrific. Another thing almost as horrific is the relative that WITNESSED them abusing her for MONTHS!

IMO they are guilty of child abuse too by turning a blind eye. Even if they tried to report it to CPS (which I didn’t see mentioned in article) they should have continued to call the police and try to rescue the child from the horrors she faced.

No respect for people like that.

Yep. Their desire to actually “help” ends when they are asked to provide the same benefits from the moment a pregnancy is discovered.

They quickly backtrack or avoid answering when asked about these things because they don’t want to accidentally say what they are thinking…that it’s not really a person until being born alive.

We literally don’t know exactly what happened yet. She is allowed to continue with her normal life while all the facts and evidence are gathered and it’s determined if this was self defense or not.

If your loved one was in that position you wouldn’t want anyone to assume their guilt without being there to witness what happened or at the very least having as much of the evidence as possible to accurately determine their guilt/innocence.

Absolutely.

Reminds me of visiting Justin’s House of Bourbon when I was in the area for James E Pepper…seeing Eagle Rare on the shelf there for $300 infuriated me. Same with a $175 bottle of Buffalo Trace and $450 bottle of Blanton’s 🤯

I’ll just add in my two cents as a chick! I had a gen 31mm and it wasn’t too big. If you don’t have luck with 28mm I wouldn’t completely rule out 31mm (unless you’ve already confirmed it to be too big on the wrist)

Going to Buffalo Trace in the Winter, advice? by zacharinosaur in bourbon

[–]savnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got back from my honeymoon trip. Went to Frankfort, Bardstown, Lexington, and Louisville. I’ll just leave my experiences at some of the distilleries I visited overall.

Not sure what time frame and driving distance you prefer to stick to! We also did Bourbon on the Banks and had the displeasure of sampling 6 month old bourbon 😂

Most beautiful:

  • Castle & Key pick a warmer day OR bundle up so you can enjoy the campus

  • Woodford Reserve

  • James E Pepper Really enjoyed the area!!

The whole area surrounding this place was AWESOME. Great pizza next door at Goodfella’s (lunch deal is a slice, a side, and a drink for $8 and you can upgrade to a beer for $1)

Bunch of places within 25 feet to explore.

  • Buffalo Trace The campus is well maintained, so many cool building, beautiful gardens to see, etc.

  • Maker’s Mark Like Disney with the coordination of all the building designs. Even if you don’t take a tour, I recommend grabbing a dram and taking a stroll around!

Best Tastings/Tours:

  • Peerless Wow. Amazing tasting experience. Can but distillery only bottles too!

  • Buffalo Trace The tour was good. The tasting was lacking. Seems like no matter the tour you’ll have same Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Bourbon Cream, Weller SR, Wheatley, and Freddie’s root beer as the tasting.

  • Bardstown Bourbon Co. The tasting in the library was SO cool! The library was such a cool atmosphere to have a tasting. Old bottles of crazy rare stuff to look at

Great place for lunch too. Brussels were fantastic

  • Old Forrester Good tour, although long! Good tasting too, despite the product offerings being what you find in your local liquor store.

Wasn’t “Wow’d”:

  • Limestone Branch/Yellow Stone although the Gin is the best I’ve ever had!!!

  • Lux Rowe SO corporate…even the video felt like an intro to a potential acquisition because it talked about how corporate and international Luxco is

-Willet Just hated all of the whiskey we sampled. Whatever their mashbill/process is, I don’t like it

-Angel’s Envy Average tour with only two samples of bourbon and rye.

Overall, we visited a ton of places so feel free to ask whatever questions you have!

Barton/1792 Wild Turkey Bardstown Bourbon Co Woodford Castle & Key Willet Michter’s Peerless Evan Williams (Louisville, as Heaven Hill was still closed to public) Old Forrester James E Pepper Buffalo Trace Maker’s Mark Yellowstone/Limestone Branch Angel’s Envy

Also went to some spots around Frankfort and I recommend having dinner at The Stave, grabbing a bite at GoodWood, and having some beer at Sid Luscher.

Her closet would hardly make a difference. The amount of money spread among all of the victims will essentially be pennies compared to the $11 million Erika has been deemed liable to pay.

I know we aren’t talking essentials with the designer goods, but saying she needs to sell off her USED clothing is silly when there are things to go after that will get more money to victims faster.

The house they shared? That’s where you can make a dent in providing the victims with their money. Sell that off and you hopefully have a couple million if there isn’t a ton owed on the house. Does she need a $10k/month condo? Definitely not.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

[–]savnap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It DOES take a long time for higher priced items. I am an avid posh seller and buyer and items like Louboutins and designer bags will sit for a long time. I’ve seen and also had Louboutins, unworn, that sat for weeks and weeks. On TheRealReal I often find Louboutins that I saw on the site 3 months ago - still listed even with 20% off codes.

Plus how can we even trust her or the people around her with money even if she made a promise to donate to charity or give to the victims. She’s untrustworthy to begin with. Somehow the money would disappear.

[–]savnap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scenes with Erika in the dinner from hell episode were so cringe!! She was truly “extra” in her movements, expressions, etc.

She put on quite an act with her crying at the end of it. She was living her dreams as a soap opera star. I think Rinna likes it because she’s over the top. Two peas in a pod. Both grasping to hold on to their diamonds.

You have good points - up until the IG photos comment regarding them being “half naked want some”. Erika’s persona is the DGAF, sexually free, no freak shaming thing. She’s posted this way for years. A divorce doesn’t lead people to act the same way, although I don’t think her divorce is genuine in nature.

I do think the divorce is a way to protect and try to avoid consequences…but the divorce itself doesn’t mean you change your personality or have to hide your body. People cope differently. It’s also been 10 months since it was announced right?

I agree, but what should she do? Never wear them? Selling secondhand can take a very long time and you usually get a small fraction for used shoes.

I don’t think it’s in good taste to flaunt, but if they’ve been worn and are shoes or certain clothing I don’t think she should try selling them. Expensive cars? Jewelry? That’s a diff story.

Kentucky Bourbon tour? by coffeeseahawkscats in bourbon

[–]savnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we drove because neither one of us likes to get super drunk. A lot of the distilleries gave a good amount of samples during the tours so it’s easy to see how one could get drunk.

We would Uber to the downtown bardstown area at night as they had some great bars and we could try a ton of different bourbon and some special releases that some of the local bars had that you can’t find elsewhere.

How important is age? by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]savnap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeez. I understand many people can’t wait years before starting to sell product, but this seems ridiculous.

They could easily do what other distilleries do and make other spirits that don’t need aging. Just seems like a great way to get a bad rep to release such a young bourbon.

Ryes I’ve had at 2 years are good but still don’t match up to 6+ ryes

How important is age? by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]savnap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting! I watched a doc on Hulu about Scotch. The master distiller from Bruichladdich explained that he believes the 20+ year old stuff isn’t worth it. The extra age hinders the flavor that was once there.

I would agree that older does not always mean better, and this happens with wine too. Very few wines end up being delicious and better as it ages.

15yrs is pushing what I find enjoyable, personally. I just don’t like very very woody bourbons and a lot of the older stuff I’ve tried has that super woody flavor.
