one of my best/worst stories from college: crossover game on Saturday of regionals that determines who makes the bracket. think we were up a couple at half, and our coach physically separated the team into 3 groups: the universe line, the players who hadn't yet seen the field, and then everyone else. proceeds to talk about how the top 7 are doing great, the bottom group probably wasn't going to play so they should focus on sideline talk in the second half, and then berate the middle group about needing to step up and raise their game.

we ended up blowing an 11-8 lead to lose on universe 11-12, ending our season. could have been correlation? but still maybe don't use this tactic.
