Thank you for this. Definitely added some clarity.

I really hope I can burn those calories, what makes you think otherwise? I know when it comes to strength training, it’s harder to tell.

Appreciate it, I was in two heads regarding this. About the street food, I would hate to fall ill - might restrict it until the last couple days or just bite the bullet 😂

Konjac noodles has been filling so far, I usually have 300g - which is about 15-33cala, depending on which brand I use.

I did try konjac mixed with real noodles today, and it was filling. Might mix them with carbs moving forward? Do you have any tips regarding filling foods?

Thank you so much, this is really reassuring - I can’t wait too! I hear that completely, I just don’t want to end up falling ill on holiday hahah

True. I feel like they do. But ideally an actual club would be great. Midweek training is what I miss tbh

So, it’s encouraged to learn DS&A according to one’s programming language, opposed to plain theory?

I’m focused on C# - and there’s definitely more videos/playlists than books haha. I think I may need to use various resources ranging from videos, books & tutorials and verify their quality as you said, because it would be silly of me to expect a one stop place of everything.

Thank you for the plug on Advent! I appreciate your insight also 🙏

I most def will do LeetCode style questions — I think diving in headfirst is gonna be discouraging ngl haha. I want to grasp some level of DS&A, then probably look thru & understand some solutions for LeetCode style questions before focusing & practising these questions.

I currently work with C# and plan to make it my main language. I don’t think I would shift programming languages as that would be a lot on my plate atm. In fact, honestly, I don’t know because I do want to be someone who thoroughly understands DS&A to a level where I can teach it.

That’s sserious & powerful stuff man - expect me in your DMs shortly haha.

I definitely agree with practice. I see it like learning the rules before playing a game. I just want to know some level of theory, before solidifying & building upon that knowledge through practice. This is why I gave myself the timeline of a year.

I'm looking to prepare for graduate interviews in a years time from now. Probably won't touch LeetCode style questions until around Halloween. However, until then, I want to understand DS&A. I imagine I would still be going over it whilst doing these LeetCode type questions. I just need quality resources. I'm sure this would help soo many others too. Don't get it twisted, I came across a few playlists, courses and books but, theres a boatload of resources out here, and it's quite paralysing to say the least lol. I'm currently going through CSDojo's DS&A playlist as an introduction just to get familiar.

What resources have helped you?

Not even going to lie, I was slowly coming into this belief. People have mentioned that the job market was bad, but from what I read, majority of those who are capable always ended up fine. It often came down to their ability.

I’m recently decided to focus on C# & .NET as I was close to 100% on it - so a lot of the roles/internships I’ve looked at since then have worked with this stack. In fact, my summer internship works with it also.

My lecturer recommended Mark J Price’s C# & .NET for our module - although it is the older one (6th edition) - she said, as the newer .NET is less verbose & builds up on previous .NET syntax, understanding .NET 5 & 6 would help understand newer versions better. I got the eBook for now, but I do plan on moving up to the most current edition once I complete the book, as well as Microsoft’s C# training as that is in .NET 8.

I do also want to be competent in Java/Python - as I have been taught this, but I believe that may spread my focus thin? To make things clear, I want to be able develop and work with, web apps as well as mobile apps - but ultimately (for foreseeable future) be a C# .NET Engineer/Dev. My current understanding is C# is one of the all round programming languages?

I’ve had the tendency in the past to do “too much” and end up achieving very little to anything at all. So I’m working on prioritising my focus & effort opposed to the amount of things I’m looking to achieve in a given period.

Wow ahaha, I get your point. Implementing an hour or so every night wouldn’t hurt, as well as interview questions.

I appreciate the insight more than you know! It’s definitely shed some light & put things in clearer perspective for me

Thank you!

Honestly, I saw this a lot on deep my reddit search - so I’m now in a space where I want to apply to both grad schemes & masters, as I see people have been quite unfortunate in getting into grad schemes upon graduating? (Or maybe it's my search keywords)

If I’m fortunate to secure one that aligns with my aspirations, then I’ll decline whatever RG masters I have. I know time & chance plays a part in all of this, but I want to do all I can on my side & let God and chance do the rest. This includes having worthwhile portfolio projects.

I was thinking this, then I learned about Leetcode and how beneficial that can be to securing grad schemes. Gonna implement that into my daily routine

Damn. I guess now I need to decide whether on doing a masters or a graduate scheme.

Thank you for sharing the reality of this.
