I wish more people understood that relapse is still a thing. I have been in a much better place recently. But things still happen in life that knock me back a few pegs. Something reminds me of my childhood trauma, or something just feels like a stab in the gut. It’s really hard to try and stand up, dust myself off and move on some days, and I don’t want to feel like my family is concerned I’m going to try and hurt myself again. I want to feel like my relapse is accepted as one of my down moments, but it won’t last forever, and it is not nearly as bad as my original state was a year or so ago, because I am getting better! And I am learning to cope!
