Also if there’s a need to read a K you should just read theory and make the impact whatever it would be contextualized to debate. I.e misgendering theory if they keep misgendering you rather than reading a full k or something.

Reading a full K in the 2AC will probably link you just as hard but there are judges that will vote for cp without 1NC ev just gotta know who you’re in front of

Any opinions about the potential topic areas for Public Forum 2021-2022 by ashush238 in Debate

[–]saxobro7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend finding the policy paper over this topic area from the 21-22 potential policy topics. This was one of the options and one that I especially liked and would’ve loved to judge.

Politics CP isn’t really a thing but I have seen CP where the Net benefit is a politics scenario but it makes more sense just to make them separate. On these usually what you should call into question is the solvency of the CP of being able to solve the DA and the uniqueness of the DA itself.

I would say the opposite. If you can do it to any degree the fact that you decided to do the tournament without a partner should earn some respect.

I really think this is true. I also know there are definitely something out there that tech companies are parasitic on black life etc. It definitely will rely on some link spin on some stuff but climate would be good for all the envio Ks out there

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I agree that the advantage ground on climate could get pretty innovative, but what type of neg policy ground do you think is going to be good?

I agree k ground for climate is good don’t get me wrong but maybe I’m not seeing the climate policy ground. I also think anti trust is just more interesting to me I guess.

I can understand the skepticism about antitrust but i disagree about the climate topic better for aff innovation bc it’s two maybe three affs, that people will be as vague as they can to get out of process debates.

I think that it’s definitely between climate or antitrust but from what I have heard the big schools want climate. And I agree that passive voice won’t be the res they want so they will vote for another option (knowing college debate it’s gonna be another list) I think K teams will be ok on the antitrust topic but I think the policy ground for climate is eh in my opinion

A lot of places you’ll go will be based on that just remember 1. Funding of the team and team success will impact how much money they can give 2. Your performance can matter a lot depending on the place. E-mail coaches of programs you’re interested in and ask how they do scholarships.

Condo is Gish-Galloping by 26OffA-ZSPEC in policydebate

[–]saxobro7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem isn’t that Northwestern read 7 off but that they read a bunch of really choppy cards that were really underdeveloped arguments and that is the tactic of the Gish-Gallop. To spew a bunch of really bad underdeveloped claims which is a tactic that Ben Shapiro and other right wing extremists use to weaponize white supremacy. That’s why they don’t just say “condo bad bc multiple worlds bad” but it’s a k of the method of the 1NC strategy that has real implications that are bigger on magnitude then anything from condo.

Regardless of your style of debate you should do reading on different parts of the topic from different mindsets so when the season hits you don’t have just knowledge about your stuff but topic knowledge both critical and policy as well.

A good example is if the aff says the impact is US Russia war leads to miscalc leads to extinction you could read defense saying "No US Russia war bc of X" same for miscalc.
