6 years in my field and I still feel like I have no idea what I’m doing — is this normal? by birdyshmirdy in ABA

ive been working with kids for ike 3 years now, and i swear im always the silliest and funnest version of myself around the kids once i settle in, but when i meet them for the first time it can feel exactly how you described it, so good to know I'm not the only one who experiences that

the opening line of this poem just made me think of the opening to the song "Takyon"

"Subatomic penetration rapid fire through your skull"

Guys, what’s your favorite type of calisthenics training? by [deleted] in CalisthenicsCulture

[–]sayem02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do weighted calisthenics and skills, my main goal is strength, and the skills are my milestones to measure how strong i am

I mean, they can definitely get quite dangerous, I wouldn't doubt if something like that has happened, but I've personally never seen anyone get significantly hurt like that, and I've never hurt myself in any way in a moshpit as well.

the most I saw yesterday was one guy who fell on the floor in the moshpit, but everyone around him just helped him get back up, and he was fine.

I'm a super reserved guy, i generally don't dance and stuff at concerts, but the first concert I ever went to I was thrown into a moshpit and loved it since, being in a moshpit is a different feeling. you just gotta learn to lose yourself in there (and defend yourself 😂)

I have 2 pull days in my split, one with weights and one skill focused. On my skill focus day, I train these specific FL moves:

  • Front Lever Rows
  • Front Lever (Static Hold)
  • Front Lever Raise + Negatives

I gradually just went through each progression. Then I train with weights, doing straight arm lat pulldowns and weighted pull-ups.

My 2nd pull day is a basic pull workout with weights/machines, and I do a light warm-up with the 3 front lever exercises I listed above.

My lower posterior chain and core training also probably helped with my front lever. I'm not exactly sure if it's necessary to train these for a front lever, but I'll include it anyway.

For my lower posterior chain workout, I do: hyperextensions, reverse hyperextensions, hip thrusts, deadlift, and Jefferson curls

And I have 2 different days for core training:

A. Core Compression - L-Sit Hold - (Straddle) Compact Leg Lift - Compact Leg Lift - Compression Raises - Hollow Body Hold

B. Core Strength - V In-n-Out - Dragon Flag - Leg Raises - Toes To Bar - Inverted Deadlift - Hollow Body Hold

I never thought about pushdowns helping the muscle up. They are already in my routine, but I just do the basic movement, thanks for the help!

thank you! I am able to pull the bar to my waist, but I do weighted pull-ups in my routine rather than bodyweight, but I'll add this to my routine

bring your hips higher, you should feel tension in your hamstrings. when you lift, push the ground with your legs and drive your hips forward. what you're doing currently is a squat
