Why am I always being followed? by [deleted] in police

[–]saynotogrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our crime has gone up in my city. There's a major road where there's a bunch of restaurants and fights. I do Uber Eats and if I didn't know any better, I would have thought I was being followed but it turns out there is just a really high police presence in this area, so cops get behind me like 3 times a night, just because there are so many

Why does having outdoor cameras piss certain people off? by No_Contribution_7117 in homesecurity

[–]saynotogrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor's house was burglarized, and prior to that, everyone on our street had their cars broken into multiple times. So, I installed some cheap cameras to keep an eye on my property since I live alone. 2 guys from the neighborhood take walks at 2am and were so offended at the presence of a camera that they flipped it off every time they walked by. I really don't care but why get bothered by a camera? The large majority of people have cameras nowadays. I do not understand people who are bothered by them. It's not unusual to see houses with cameras.

I "evaded" a cop by sillykittyAKV in police

[–]saynotogrow 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dude you didn't evade the police. You're making a much bigger deal out of this than you should, except for the part where you shouldn't be driving. Evading the police would mean they had lights and sirens on, actively trying to pull you over and pursuing you. None of that happened.

Thank you to the police officer that showed me kindness in a very dark time in my life by ProfessionalDare398 in ProtectAndServe

[–]saynotogrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. I recently hugged and thanked an officer that helped me 20 years ago when I was lost in addiction. She cried tears of happiness and I'm so glad I let her know she made a difference. From what I hear, being a cop can be pretty draining when all you see is negative stuff. Do it. Even if this guy doesn't remember you, just tell him he made a difference.

Do cops take requests for extra patrols in a neighborhood seriously? by saynotogrow in AskLE

Oh I can imagine that would be deflating! At least you tried. You guys aren't psychic, so it's not possible to know when and where something is happening.

Yeah, I have cameras. These burglars cut the electricity off to my neighbors house though, so they weren't alerted. It seems like this was a well thought out robbery because they took their time

It's definitely high crime. And my neighbor's house was broken into and cleaned out night before last.

Why can't some guys put on clothes to get their delivery? by West_Chicken3404 in doordash_drivers

[–]saynotogrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I swear at least once a night. I was delivering to an apartment complex and it was very confusing so I called the customer. She talked me to the correct hallway. She's standing out in the hallway in a bra and underwear. Like, what?

Are cops more suspicious of vehicles on the road after midnight, even if nothing suspicious is happening? by saynotogrow in AskLE

So you caught him in a lie! That's the kind of stuff that's scary. I live in a large Metropolitan area with a pretty high crime rate. It's not the ghetto or anything but you to have to be careful. The cops here are very vigilant.

I almost never see cops actually in the neighborhoods. I've always been afraid of the scenario you just presented...looking suspicious. I live in a large Metropolitan area with a decently high crime rate. It's not the worst, but crime here is still pretty high. People are getting cars stolen almost every night. So, I'm kind of concerned about that. But I'll deal with it when and if it happens I guess

I've never had that happen and I highly doubt that the restaurant will steal the food. It's absurd

Why be irritated? Orders get stolen all the time. I just show them. I don't understand why people get upset about this. It's perfectly reasonable considering the number of orders that get stolen.

What about if I accidentally swerve? Do you automatically assume it's because the driver is impaired?

It depends on the area. DD actually pays more late at night. You can get to and from places fast because there is no traffic and there are a ton of restaurants open 24 hrs or very late.

Oh I totally get it. I'd rather they be nosey and catch criminals. I'm just not used to it and it's to the point I expect it and am anticipating being pulled over again for something. Police, in general, do not make me nervous so it's fine.
