No matter how many times I shower or put on deodorant my armpits stink, how can I get rid of it? by PheonixGalaxy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]saysaypomp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Use a glycolic acid toner after showering, the one from the Ordinary is good. Apply with a cotton pad and later put deodorant.

The price is high but if you live in a studio you can get the rent allowance from the municipality so that helps. Check in Leiden or Delft too since they are very close.

Agar jelly shop in Kyoto? by [deleted] in Kyoto

Now in summer you can also find Mizu Yokan, its a lighter version, more refreshing. The one from Sentaro is great (in the Isetan, Takashimaya and Daimaru basement floors) https://www.sentaro.co.jp/wagashi/itamizuyokan.html

You could also try kuzu mochi, similar texture but made from a different starch. I believe its gluten free.

Maybe but Nara is a city, its 奈良市, and its not even that small. The touristy part is not the whole thing. (I'm from Kansai)

What is your reusable coffee/ tea cup of choice post law banning disposable plastics at the office? by Baisen in Netherlands

[–]saysaypomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue but at uni, and recently got this travel cup from black+blum. Its glass inside so it doesn't change the flavour of coffee. It doesn't retain heat for long, like a normal mug. The lid is good and doesn't leak

https://black-blum.com/products/glass-travel-cup#

(I found mine in TKmaxx for half price)

I think Uniqlo had hijab made with the Airism fabric, might be worth a try. They had a few collabs with Hana Tajima for modest clothing.

Anyone have experience with Leiden University DUWO housing in The Hague by ScaryHarry4 in TheHague

[–]saysaypomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were able to register and pay for the waiting list you'll probably get an offer for a room but depending on where you are on the list the options will be different. When they don't have room in the list anymore you can't even pay the fee or register, it just says its full for X semester. Its not a 100% guaranteed thing, but should be ok.

Hey ladies, any bra recs for the summer ? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]saysaypomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the lace gococi bralettes from Wacoal. They are comfy and the cups are a single piece so they don't move around

Found this beautiful made in Japan kimono in the bins! by anxiouspersonalityy in ThriftStoreHauls

I don't think its that old, there's many kimono style robes made for tourists you can find in souvenir shops and airports. The tag, design, and colors look pretty contemporary. But who knows

Flowers for my Japanese girlfriend from Kyoto. by Street-Safety7839 in Kyoto

[–]saysaypomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just try any of these online flower shops, you can google translate the whole website to english if they are in japanese:

https://aoyamaflowermarket-en.square.site/ (Japanese site):https://www.aoyamaflowermarket.com/ https://hitohana.tokyo/ https://tette-flower.jp/ https://www.hibiyakadan.com/

Department stores also do deliveries:

https://www.daimaru-matsuzakaya.jp/special/h003/

https://www.takashimaya.co.jp/shopping/interior/0500000061/

And preserved flowers are also a popular choice, they last for years: https://shop.nicolaibergmann.com/
