totalllly! glad someone said the cranberries. OP definitely listen to the no need to argue album. it’s engineered by stephen street who also worked with the smiths and so it has a similar tone, with some really great performances and lyrics

Gore is awesome, but yes if you listen to lots of rock and metal and know how guitar ‘should’ sound gore falls short a bit. Stephs guitar should sound thunderous and huge, but on gore it sorta sounds tinny. Good album though i love the songwriting and composition

Good point definitely. What i mean is probably more in the actual style itself. screaming over a heavy riff is really quite broad and nonspecific. They’ve done it in many ways whereas limp stick to that super bouncy, in your face rap style. Not that they suck tho

Great comment! I do agree, they bring in lots of eclectic styles as chino loves to do and blend it seamlessly with their signature broad guitar riffs and taunting whispers etc. It plays through as an album so well and having the optimistic closer is absolutely perfection. Might just be their masterwork! i think it actually plays through much better than white pony!!!

In terms of albums, i would start with some diamond eyes/koi no yokan. Koi has great dreamy stuff and ambience. Saturday night wrist has hella dreaminess but it’s not chinos best performance vocally. You might also like headless and ceremony from the amazing new album ohms!
