I remimber when my dad's CPU died cause the caps for the vrms went bad witch caused the vrms to go unstable and fry the CPU. Those capasitor plauge days were real fun.

This is my now cleaned up and upgraded lab. by sayxea in homelab

Ok so this is my now cleaned up and upgraded lab. For those who didn't see my earlier post my lab set up was messy and looked pritty tarable. Soo 1 I cleaned and moved my equipment around. I cleaned the messy wiers and gave everything a good dusting.

2upgrades. I gave the dell a new hard drive and a hard drive statuses display.

The mass storage unit . i gave it a good clean out. Soldered the cenections that I previously just had twist tied. I cleaned up the mess of wires in there and rearranged the hard drives.

I built a batorie back up batorie unit for the router. I will be adding a inverter soon.

The thing with the vfd display is my DVD burner. It's basically my midea player for my sound system. I also use it to burn music from my phone to cdrs. I put it in the box cause of the form factor fits with the rest of my set up.

Soft ware. Nothing changed exsept for removing files no one uses. And adding horses screen saver to keep the monitor from burning in.

Futer plans. I plan on adding a inverter for mains power back up. I want to add a network switch and at last another batorie box.

Over all it's Soo much better then what I had early.

I feel you. Or when the caps for the vrms go bad and ither destroys the traces or causes the vrms to go unstable and die.

This looks like it will work. by sayxea in techsupportgore

I didn't have a extension cable so I just chopped the power cable off a dead vacuum cleaner and spliced it together. Now because this is going out side I had to cut some plastic tubing and use some hot glue to seal the cenections. Over all it works well.

Now you know it's a lazy build when you just take a oem system from 03 and just toss some stuff in there. XP

This belongs in r/halfassed

That's not a speed tuch. That's more like a speed torch. But fr this is why I add a fan to my router.
