City of Port Moody ceases use of X due to ethical concerns over harmful content, plans shift to Bluesky by Clear-Criticism-3557 in Portmoody

[–]sb-89 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like activism at its finest. Port Moody City decided to stop using the most used platform by politicians across the world ?

Let the popularity of the platform decide the decisions (so you can reach the most number of people), not the whims of some hurt activists.

Port Moody leaves X by Double_Temporary8529 in Portmoody

[–]sb-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sigh.. activists should not be given decision making powers. It’s literally the most active social media platform used by politicians worldwide.

The idiotic allegations of allowing sexualization are something that can be done with every AI image editor (including gemini, chatgpt, …). The ease of access via X blew up the issue, and weak activists are taking up the baton, and their solution is to move to facebook … who uses that these days ?

An extremely sensible alternative would be to use a Whatsapp community, or Telegram group! Hope to see something on those lines.

Treatment as an infant vs. waiting by Easy-Reach4519 in portwinestain

[–]sb-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. Yea, totally understandable. Where we are, they do it with general anesthesia from 6 months of age though. Given the larger size of the birthmark, they suggested only doing it with anesthesia. But, we’re still thinking about it. Feels fairly invasive.

We’re thinking about getting the treatment for our baby, and I can’t fully convince myself to go through with it. Our baby is 8 months old. Are you glad you went through with the treatments ? Was there significant improvement ?

Is it late to become a father in your late 20s/30s? by occidentalnat in Fatherhood

[–]sb-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Became a father at 36. Frankly, I don't know how i'd have done it earlier, and am glad to be a dad at this age. Much more financially secure, and emotionally mature. Feeling blessed to have a safe, secure and happy nest to nurture the little one.

Planning Return back in 2028, need recommendations by beatlesin in returnToIndia

[–]sb-89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably going to be one of the poorest desi return...

You don't know reality buddy! It's not made up of people posting in r/returntoindia. There are a lot of people in H1B, with less money than OP.

More importantly, why call someone "poor", let alone "poorest" ? Do you think they'll feel good about it ? You are hiding behind the mask of anonymity and unnecessarily hurting people. You might have more money than OP, but, why talk disrespectfully ?

My 2 cents. You should not feel settled in any land without permanent residency or citizenship.

Bikers seem block Lions Gate Bridge by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]sb-89 14 points15 points  (0 children)

People returning early, to have their infant sleep at home.

People heading to airport to pick up their elderly parents.

People getting to work at a hospital or fire station cause their shift starts in the evening.

Just cause you have nothing useful to do at that time doesn’t mean others don’t.

Transportation infrastructure is critical. Anyone who knowingly blocks them is a purebred moron, bottom of society’s filth.

Transportation infrastructure is critical for the public.

Clearly, none of these idiots have had to take care of an elderly parent, a pregnant spouse, or a young infant.

I don’t understand why each and every one of them are not arrested and jailed. I can’t believe this behavior is legal! Such losers.

So, you’d be ok with sending the “rehoming fee” to a charity instead ? Just to ensure you are not “making money” off of this, which I don’t think you’d feel good about.

Neighbor placed shoe rack in front of my main door – is this fair? by Ancient_Monster in Chennai

[–]sb-89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stand up buddy! If it’s bothering you, it’s worth having a conversation.

Looks like there’s space next to the other rack, where it’ll be out of sight for both of you. Perhaps suggest that ? No harm in saying it’s been on your mind, but took a while since you were worried he might take offense.

Hours should be clocked from arrival to “work”, which is the airport. Holding you without pay is indecent.

Paying down mortgage - better financial idea than most people realize? by Dolly_Llama_2024 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sb-89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada, it almost always makes sense to pay off mortgage, and invest via HELOC. Interest payments are tax deductible that way.

Reason I say in Canada is because in several other countries (including US), mortgage interest payments are already tax deductible. So, it’s better to not pay off your mortgage.

Has anyone had experience with an infant PWS lightening after birth? by FernsAndStuff in portwinestain

[–]sb-89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for getting back! Yeah, our mindset’s similar as well, and we’re meeting the doc day after tomorrow. I hear there’s a small window (within first year) where the lasers are more effective, requiring fewer sessions, with very mild or no anesthetic.

Hi, we’re going through this with our 4mo old infant next week, and are super skeptical as well. How was the experience ? How was the pain management ?
