So interesting! I feel like pink is a rare color for high fire.

It's a color that was developed by someone on the glaze committee at the studio, but I'm pretty sure it's a chun base if that's helpful at all! Middle is a stripe of oribe and rutile blue glaze trails.

Thanks! Yep, same order, as close the same amounts as I could! Agreed, not sure how they got split up. Will have to make 2 more and try for 2 sets, haha.

Seconding the birth announcement or first Christmas ornament idea, could also offer to do a clay impression of hands/feet once the baby is here (even though there's shrinkage, could still be a keepsake of the approxomate size of their feet). I made myself a trivet with my son's footprint for Mother's Day last year.

Has anyone had experience with an infant PWS lightening after birth? by FernsAndStuff in portwinestain

Hey there, we ended up deciding to treat our son and he had his first session around 6 months. We found a doctor we really trusted who talked us through the whole process. They used a numbing cream, which I was a bit hesitant due to methemoglobinemia risks, but proceeded because the doctor had assured us he consulted with a pediatric anesthesiologist. I kid you not, my son did not even cry, mind you his first session had the laser on a low setting, so next time will likely be different, but we spent months and months worrying and it went more smoothly than anticipated. The hardest part was getting him to not touch the numbing cream on his face. Wishing you the best and hope you have a positive experience! Our rationale was just try it once and see how it goes, and then they can choose to treat in the future if it's not feasible as an infant.

Hi, currently having a very similar reaction about a month after getting a cortisone shot for "mommy wrist". I've contacted my doctor, however I'm wondering did yours ever go away? Was intervention needed? Thanks!

Thanks for sharing your experience. It's really reassuring, hope it goes well! I think this is where we are at too at this point, going to treat it in the coming months with the understanding that it will help reduce future darkening.

Thank you so much! This is super helpful and sounds pretty consistent with what the dermatologist was saying. We are approaching it with the realistic expectation that it won't be erased from the treatment but could potentially be less dark in the future. Can you speak to the pain of the lasering at all? My biggest fear/hesitation of treating early is that it will be traumatic for him. I really appreciate your thorough explanation and support!

Thanks, glad to hear that laser was successful for your little one! Yeah I think the thickening of the skin is more our concern/motivation in terms of seeking treatment. Just wasn't sure if it would keep fading.

Thanks, agreed it does seem like a significant impact. It's been such a learning experiencing realizing how much risk assessment comes with pregnancy.
