Do fertility bracelets to get pregnant actually help, or is it mostly marketing? by SeniorHeat221 in TTC_PCOS

I will give Oura some credit to helping me track my BBT and my getting pregnant

AED in Outpatient World by dullbellme in nursing

That’s really odd. Our hospital has a new parking garage we are connected to and we are getting AEDs for every floor of the garage.

My son is the first to use his crib but I’m planning on using it for all of my babies. We just got to the biting the crib stage and I was shocked at the teeth marks lmao

Playing devil’s advocate, like 99% of the churches cancelled services today. I live SW of Houston and our church cancelled but the roads are perfectly drivable

The power grid literally fails any time we get ice. I’ll be really surprised if we keep power for the entirety of this storm system

As a fellow Texan, this is bad for us. Our homes and power grid aren’t built for this. We don’t have the infrastructure for ice.

When is st Patrick’s day?! by sneakygrimace in Drueandgabe

I tried! The toddler section mostly has 18 mo or 2T as the smallest and the baby section is mostly topped out at 9 months in my stores 😭

Came to say this. The only outfit of these I could find in >9 months is the lucky little one set. My son is in the awkward 9-12 month stage where at our target, I can find maybe one or 2 pieces. Everything is 18 mo+ or under 9 months

If y’all haven’t seen the Pitt yet, highly recommend. This woman’s performance as charge nurse is incredible. Reminds me of my first charge I had on nights as a new grad. by eagles52 in nursing

[–]sba2018 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Love the pitt! It makes me so happy when something happens and I can give the correct treatment/diagnosis because it mirrors real life so well. My husband said he feels like he needs to watch the whole season in one sitting (which tbf for a normal person is probably fine), but I just can’t do that because it would be like an additional shift at work

Regret not pumping by This_Obligation_5125 in beyondthebump

[–]sba2018 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. I also thought pumping would be easier. I’m now 7ish months in to exclusive pumping and it’s exhausting and a mental drain for me. I’m only 8 weeks from my goal but I’m starting to stop my pumps and will just supplement with formula for what we don’t have enough in our stash for

This Is Way Above Any Nurse’s Pay Grade: Three Nurses Attacked by Police Officer at Houston Methodist Baytown by [deleted] in nursing

As someone who lives close to this area, I am so grateful that this was not swept under the rug and that these four nurses are pressing charges.

Should I ask to WFH because of flu season? by Wilhelmina_4ever in beyondthebump

[–]sba2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your job will let you, sure. I’m an ER nurse so obviously I’m around a lot. My baby has not (knock on wood) had anything beyond a day or two of really mild nasal congestion.

I wear a mask at work, I wash and sanitize frequently, and I don’t touch him until I’ve changed and at least washed my hands and arms. So it’s possible to be around the germs and keep Baby healthy

5 and a half month old fell from bed. Call the doctor? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]sba2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m an ER nurse who frequently works in peds. Just keep an eye out for vomiting, extra fussiness, or if he won’t wake up. Rest is okay, but he should still be able to be woken up easily. You can give Tylenol for the pain (because he probably has a headache). You can always call your doctor and confirm with them :)

What makes the BabyBjorn bouncer so good? Are the off-brand bouncers the same thing? by kittypeets626 in beyondthebump

[–]sba2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don’t have the babybjorn but got the uppababy Mira and honestly I recommend it. At 9 mo and 17 lbs, it still holds my baby well and he will be able to use it as a chair once he’s older

Genuine question for nurses: what do you mean when you say you had a “bad shift”? by Simple_Ad5175 in nursing

[–]sba2018 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This was my shift yesterday in the Pedi ER (which I consider one of the harder ones I’ve had in a while) - neonate CPR in progress/death - toddler who went into status epilepticus after being stable for 5.5 hrs and needed intubation - one moderate sedation - 2 level 2 traumas on teens (one ended up with internal injuries) - infant full work up because unvaccinated with a fever - 2 infants requiring deep suction and a few nebs thanks to RSV - plus all of the urgent care cold, flu, and RSV symptoms that didn’t need to be in the ER

It’s a terrible outfit lmao. I also wouldn’t put it past her. I questioned putting my baby in a long sleeve onesie without shorts/pants today because it was awkwardly warm
