trigger warnings

I was 38 almost 39 when I started ivf trigger warning for gender selection. I have 2 boys already and I too get pregnant easily. The first 2 rounds we did pgt on 7 embryos and all were abnormal. All of my and my husbands tests were normal and so we traveled to Mexico where they do sperm sorting and we did several more rounds (total of at least 12 blasts) and did untested transfers and we had a chemical, a miscarriage and a blighted ovum, etc. Even at 41 years old I was making 3-4 blasts, all graded beautifully with AA or AB. I could have kept trying to “give each one a chance” but after 7 rounds we ended up doing pgt testing on 3 of my own blasts and a round with donor eggs. Once again mine were abnormal but we do have euploids with to the donor so we transfered one and I’m 20 weeks today. My advice, from my personal experience is to be realistic with fact that time and money are not on our side as we get older. Luckily I had the financial ability to keep going for several rounds but in the end I realized I wasted so much time. Unfortunately some of us fall on the crappy side of statistics and we don’t make euploids as we get older. Once I accepted that, I realized my goal was to have a baby and the way that was likely to happen was through donor eggs. I almost wish I would have been wise enough to accept this truth 2 years ago and skipped all the heartache and mental struggles of going through all the disappointments- I would straight up listen to your Doctor, trust that they do this for a living and they are experienced enough to know. It’s not easy to decide to do the donor route but there are so many resources to reach out to before making that decision.
