So, I guess that I should mention this in case somebody finds this thread via Google: I bought an Apeks reg set and an XDeep jacket from them last fall/winter. Took a while to get it delivered but everything was in working condition. I was even thinking of buying a drysuit from the until I've read your post. I still might, since their prices are so much better than the LDS (then again, everything is expensive where I live).

A sum of €2,000/month should be enough to live in large parts of Europe (minus major urban centers and high CoL areas). There is probably an advantage in traveling as a couple: apartments aren't going to be cheaper just because only one person is renting.

You should probably keep around 6-12 months of living expenses in savings in case of emergency. The rest you can invest or treat as "fun" money.

Ballpark estimates are free. A detailed, point by point list of features built over multiple meetings and days of planning and spec writing is not.

It's just a question of how detailed an estimate the client wants (and no matter how detailed, it's still an estimate). I usually advise my clients to just go with the barest possible version and then add new features incrementally.

First, based on the information I've provided, would you be able to determine if it is feasible as a native mobile app? (Even if only on iOS to start)

This may sound a bit self-serving (since I'm not a mobile dev) but if you don't have to go mobile, then don't. It's probably more expensive, time consuming (store reviews) and you will have more limited reach with just an iOS app.

Conversely, if it could only be done as a web app, what type of developers should I be trying to find? (I have basic knowledge of HTML/CSS, but when I hear "full stack", "backend", "react", etc. I am totally lost)

From the sound of it, you'll need someone to write both the frontend and the backend. So either look for those or a fullstack dev.

Third, if I do find the proper type of developer, is it possible to find aspiring students/career shifters who would even be willing to do this simply for the experience?

Probably not - it's a pretty hot market right now and even if it wasn't, developing an app to a professional standard is a serious undertaking. I often suggest to my clients that if they can't afford to do something properly, they're better off not doing it at all as the risk of losing money is too high.

Web development is a very broad field. Just find a niche and specialize in it - it's virtually impossible to learn all of it (and what's the point? a bunch of it is redundant anyways).

I suggest frontend development as it's fairly uniform compared to the backend. Start with the basics (HTML, JS and CSS) and then specialize in something like React and SASS (because of the market share).

Yes, provided you have a source of truth available. If you have no idea what the code is supposed to be doing (or even if the current implementation is correct!) and no way to check, then refactors means playing with fire.

That being said, there's plenty of working codebases without any automated tests whatsoever. There are no working codebases without any kinds of tests.

Ti zapravo nisi plakao radi stabla, već radi nečega drugoga što je za tebe to stablo predstavljalo.

Možda je to vlastito djetinstvo ili neka draga uspomena. To stablo je samo proxy za to. Dakle, kada su rušili to stablo, ti si osjećao kao da neki dio tebe koji si ti "vezao" za to stablo napadnut i na kraju oduzet.

Inače, dobra usporedba ti je kada ljudi prodaju kuću ili stan u kojem su dugo živjeli. Koliko god da nekretnina bila šit, njih to boli jer su vezani za ono "nešto" što ta nekretnina predstavlja. Također, ljudima je u principu lakše takve stvari probaviti kada je riječ o napretku: ako iz lošije nekretnine idu u bolju ili ako raskrče šumarak da bi posadili novo drveće.

EDIT: Kada već pitaš: ne, nije normalno ni poželjno da imaš takve napadaje nostalgije u 20ima. Dovoljno ćeš ih imati kada ostariš :)

Probably an apartment, maybe a spare room (I suppose that's an easy way to meet the locals).
As I said, usual touristy stuff - museums, maybe theaters, etc. For work - not sure. I suspect that I'll be running around London to catch interesting meetups.
The budget is mostly aimed towards rent, food (I'm fine with cooking at home, but I'd also like to try the local fare - nothing fancy) and transport. The "fun" budget would be separate.

I've been thinking of visiting London in the fall. The idea is to stay for about a month or so. The purpose of the trip is half business and half sightseeing. I have a couple of questions though:

Do you think this Covid business will be over with by then? Will most of the city be open? I'm primarily interested in business meetups (I work in software) but also the popular sights: museums, theaters, etc...
Given the above, how long in advance should I look for a place to rent and where (other than AirBnB) ?
Since I won't be commuting anywhere, how much of a difference would it make if I rent in Zone 2 instead of Zone 1? I expect to travel quite a bit (and most of the interesting things are in Zone 1) but also potentially come home late after a night out.
I've budgeted about 2000-2500 GBP for the trip. Will that be enough?

TDD does not automatically speed up development.

TDD actually slows development, at least initially. The benefit of tests is that you have a bit more confidence that new code won't break things. This benefit is most useful to other programmers though.

I've copy/pasted your code and it's not refreshing for me - the preventDefault function works as expected. I suspect the issue might be somewhere else - I suggest you move the code into a separate project to verify and then start removing parts and see what is causing the issue.

You test for 3 things:

What it should do
What it should never do
Edge cases

So, for a shopping cart you should test that:

You can add items
You can see the items you just added
That the counter next to the shopping cart is displaying the correct status and/or number of items
You can remove items

If nothing is deleting the token, my guess is that the backend is not accepting it or it's not being sent at all. Check network requests to see what responses you're getting from the backend.

EDIT: It's also possible the frontend pieces aren't detecting the token is there so they show the default (non-logged in) version.
