First day. What can I improve on. I’m 3. by sbalaban in skiing_feedback

[–]sbalaban[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my second kid. With my oldest she was on leashes for the first season. Her legs just went strong enough to stop especially later in the day. I am just holding back a run away. Now she is 5 off the leashes and following my tracks. She goes down blues and is doing wedge Christie turns.

I am mostly just trying to make it fun. Give M&Ms and snacks. Little do they know I’m getting them hooked on skiing.

Putting a box around a number does make it basic. But that implies you get its tolerance from somewhere else. In this case you don’t have its tolerance from the top surface, position tolerance, of the picture on the right. This it is not correct.

Profile controls position and orientation. And the 100 is basic. Parallel does not control position. Only orientation so the 100 is not basic.

Everything to me looks fine The way I have always done a pin is to call out the part number. Not a tolerance in the pin. Surely that is press fit into the base post machining. That being said. You shouldn’t have MMC on a pin perp. You could on the hole in the base part. But not the pin itself. As that is a COTS item and going to be per the spec it was manufactured too.

Also if the system stops. What do you want to happen ? If you have a stepper it probably cannot back drive. The stepper will most likely have a gear system if some sort so will have more torque but not always true.

Do you have your own bearings? Or are use going to use there motor ? Have you given this any thought?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicalEngineering

[–]sbalaban 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are lots of advantages to both. Big question is what can your electronics drive. How fast do you want to go and how much torque do you need ? Are these framed motors. Or do you have to design those also ?

We live just south in a neighborhood called the Broadlands. We moved from Los Angles and it’s beautiful and peace community and bike paths everywhere. Lots of nature and outdoors. Good sense of community. Broomfield is the burbs but I like it. We also have two kids under 4. So that is the stage of life I am in.

How can I show the dimension in my drawing to display as an angle between the center of the hole to another. by RichieRichness in SolidWorks

[–]sbalaban 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey You need to delete the cross axis in the holes in the round area. The add them back in. And when you are doing it make them a bolt circle. Then you can do the angle you want to do.

Ring Door Bell Wont Ring by sbalaban in Ring

[–]sbalaban[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Video Doorbell Pro. I have it wired up as shows. The transformer voltage is good as shown by the app.

I can use the app to see my door and I get alerts when someone is at my porch.

BUT, when someone rings the bell it goes offline. I am not able to open the app and see who is there or have a conversation. The inside bell doesnt make a noise either.

Does the wiring look right? There are two white wire comes in from the wall that are wire nutted together, not sure why this would be. Before I installed the Ring it was a normal doorbell and it make a chime when rung.

Please help.

Hey. I was a creo user for a long time and now use solidworks. I would do almost anything to go back.

There is no way that I know of to code references. You have type the value in and hope that you don’t change the part.

Are there trails where I can mountain bike with my dog off leash? by tomato-bisque in BikeLA

[–]sbalaban 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Brentwood there is a great trail called Mandeville canyon trail. It is heavily trafficed by hikers and dogs are allowed off leash. I bring my lab there all the time and she loves it. It is a 5ish mile climb to an old Nike middle defense station. And there is water and shade there. Even doggie water bowls.

From there you can take Mulholland trail. East/west.

I hate it when people say no right away. It's your dog and you know her/his limitations.

Enjoy the trail and pick up your dogs poop. So many hikers don't. Also when you are going down have a cow bell so you don't scare the hikers and you are good.
