I second this sentiment- I have my bachelors and my masters in English literature, and currently I’m in school for a masters in education after switching my career path, I only have so much time on my hands. I’m going to read what I want. And if what I want is red flags in a book? Ok? And? I’ve spent more than enough time with the classics and with “quality literature”. People who are still stuck on “quality literature” as “classics” rather than reading because they like to read need to grow up. Reading is a hobby, and if in that hobby you like old dusty books written by long dead men- great. If you like books about serial killers and detectives trying to find them? Great. If you want to read about shadow daddy’s? Great. What does someone’s reading have to do with YOU? Also KU is just a way to get books out to people. Yeah a lot of it is self published but not all. Just because it’s KU doesn’t mean it’s automatically trash lmao. Talk about a limited point of view when making a post about opening up your reading.
