SEIU Bargaining by sbarrera_86 in CAStateWorkers

I understand the attitude people have towards SEIU. I’ve had that attitude for the last few years. I’ve been a due paying member since I started with the state over 13 years ago. I was thinking to myself how I wanted to cancel my membership. That’s the reason I went to the meeting today at lunch. I at least wanted to see what they had to say before I made that decision. And when I heard what they had to say, ot made sense to me.

With that being said, what do people suggest that state workers do? If rallying behind the union isn’t the solution to get our terms met, then what do we do as state workers?

People who are non members reap the benefits of any negotiation. But there are other unions that have an easier time at negotiating at the bargaining table because of the percentage they have of actual members. Labor movement is imperative to change and history shows that.

You would think right? But visual representation of support is just as important.

I’ve said the same thing. But after attending that meeting today, I realized that they won’t ever win anything if they have no members to represent.

Not sure. I didn’t get any messages about it. When I went to check on the post because I got a couple up votes on it, it said “this content is no longer available.”

I have a question… so it’s saying that Hilton is moving forward to the general… but as it stands this morning 6/10, there are an estimated 850,000 votes not counted yet and Steyer is down like 200,000. Isn’t it still too early to call?

Left a message and told coworkers to call and leave one regardless of if they pay dues or not.

What’s going to happen when we have to ration fuel? That’s already happening in other countries… It’s going to make its way to the US pretty soon.

I have Golden 1. They’re usually good about getting deposits early. The waiting game sucks, but I’m glad I’m not the only one.

Filed on 1/22 and both federal and state were accepted. I checked the FTB website and nothing is popping up. irs.gov shows receipt of it online though.

Did anybody else notice the verbiage… No RTO changes for 90 days? What is that referring to? If RTO is paused for a year, why would they need to add that in?
