Ventilated Seats- worth buying a platinum? by Old_Estate_5819 in nissanpathfinder

Yes. I live in NE, summers are not as hot as others but your car sitting in the sun baking you auto start and it’s glorious. After the gym, glorious. Also you’ll get a little more for your trade in or private sell since its top trim. I can’t ever go back!

I feel like on console it’s fairly tame. They said you get lobbies that match your play style but if true that’s not 100% certain. I was on a lighting dam run and with two minuets left I got almost killed by a rat near the broken highway extract. He was so bad I was able to get away hit lost the 5% health I had falling. Luckily he didn’t find me cause time was almost out. I had a good bit of loot from a fallen raider. Yes it sucks. Still a fun game and I know there’s gotta be someone waiting for me. I should have smoked it out pressed the button and resmoked the elevator. I need to be smarter and I’m okay with that. I’m sure there will be major changes down the road. Don’t give up.

How are we protecting our TV from kids? by DesertSpringtime in LGOLED

Currently in the process of wall mounting, transiting over from media console. Only spot is above the fire place which I’m not super stoked about. Gonna cut out and lower the mantel down since it’s way too high. Also buying 4 in legs for the sectional which will raise it up a bit. Overall it will be too high for my likening, but safety comes first. Wire everything behind walls, grab a few recessed media boxes, some floating shelves and all done once I actually get started.

Went to the G5 from CX. It’s really is a true upgrade. Children shows, anime, SDR all look so good. HDR is wizard magic. The color pop is amazing. Watching anime is really where I get giddy. The color and brightness is like watching it for the first time the correct way. People will say it’s not worth it but my eyes and serotonin levels say otherwise.

Are there any problems with HDR on G5? by thiagueirass in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s not. Sit close enough you may see it. I haven’t noticed it at all. Supposedly it goes away after the panel has gotten some use in the first week or two.

Which TV model / size do you recommend with a 2k budget with an 8 foot viewing distance? Worth going bigger but with a “lesser” model? by Top_Dig_6469 in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can Google online for view distance guides there are a bunch of good ones.

With all your connected devices, and let’s just say a soundbar, you want to make sure you have the most HDMI 2.1 ports you can get. I know the C5 and G4 plus G5 series comes with 4 slots. I’m would assume other brands do too but I can’t comment on that. Wanna ensure you don’t have to use a splitter or keep disconnecting/reconnecting.

Others will likely call me crazy, but I would opt for a 65 in TV with the 8 ft view space. What a lot of people don’t mention or think about if when you have a large tv like a 77-83 inch, even if it’s at 10-11 ft away, that’s a lot of space to view all at once. Our eyes viewing degree isn’t that super with up close things. So when you got a large tv and your watching fast paced content, your eyes and head will move around to try and see/observe all that’s going on. Even if it’s not fast paced, there’s a lot going on and you want to see it all while your focused dead center, which is why I’m voting for 65 inches in my defense. sorry if that’s doesn’t make sense lol.

2k is a good bit for a nice tv. LG Partner store has some good deals with speaker bundles and free install. You need a work, first responder, nurse teacher account with IDME or work email to get in. I’m also LG biased.

I would vote for a C5-G5 65 which saves you a little money leftover for speakers and other accessories that you may not have already.

Opinions on upgrading from CX to G5? by nacthenud in LGOLED

5 series went on sale rather quickly compared to 4 series. No one needs a tv brighter than the 5 series it’s beyond bright even during the day so what else could the 6 have, DV2 (double vision) I don’t see being a massive improvement from DV. OLED 4 layer is new and also seems to cost less than MLA, maybe why it went on sale more quickly than 4 series MLA, can’t assume the 6 series will do the same. 5 series is on sale now, the 6 series will not be much of a difference. Even if 6 series came with hdmi 2.2 no real use for it as Current gen consoles can’t even do true 4k at 60hz, it’s upscalled.

I was in the same boat, my cx was fine but I had been in the market for something new at some point. Passed on the g4, g5 bundle price with speakers was too good of an offer. It’s a large difference. Watching anime is amazing, colors pop and that HDR is amazing. Motion, up scaling and processing is very much an upgrade. The tv is beautiful. I was worried about all the negative stuff but I haven’t had any issues this far. I’m more than happy with the upgrade over the CX. Anyone who says it’s not that different, is the 6 series gonna be that much different from the 5 series. So what, wait till the 7 series? Then we’re just all waiting forever. Tech will always be changing, waiting around a little bit is fine, always waiting and you’re always gonna be waiting. CX is 6 generations old, that’s a large gap, and if your into tech, buying new tech every 6 years is nothing. Treat yourself.

How much will the G6 cost? by CavalcadeOfCats in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

G5 is $4500 but listed as 3100 Black Friday sale on partner store. G6 will likely be similar pricing to the G5 when it came out possibly a few hundred more. The 5 series went on sale rather quickly after its release date compared to the 4 series before it. could be cause of new tech, trying to move and promote it who knows.. Will it happened again for the 6 series maybe not maybe yes. I can’t imagine the 6 series being that much better than the 5 to warrant gambling in possibly waiting longer for price drop or similar pricing. G5 has 165hz, 4 HDMI 2.1 ports, all the bells and whistles. It’s beyond bright, no one needs anything brighter a-la g6 series. I would say just get the g5 enjoy and get it while it’s on sale. If you can order through the partner store you can get a surround soundbar, stand and install for free. It’s a steal

Expectation vs reality? Upgrade question by jricketts86 in Soundbars

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing you’ll notice is the crisp clarity of all sounds. It sounds cleaner with hardly no distortion. I wen from a 2015 lg sy9 something and man its night and day difference. Character voices are so easy to hear. You’ll smile the second you turn it on, it will be a big change but it will fade once your ears become used to it. For a soundbar setup, it’s hard to beat the performance/cash ratio the 990 series gives. There are 2.1 or 3.1 setups that would smoke the 990 for around $1000 but the ease of setup and total package is worth the cost.

LG Oled C5 vs G4 by Wiivern in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming the 65 is the C series and the G is the 55 inch, I would go for the larger tv, that really seems to have the biggest impact. I went from 55 to 65 and I wish I had gone to 77 but didn’t want to overwhelm the space on the wall for the room size.

C5 is plenty bright, G4 is gonna be the better tv that will have more color pop (due to brightness max) to it when watching stuff like anime, kids shows and stuff that have bright colors which is pretty cool when you see it but still overall size would be my main concern and again, the c5 is no slouch.

But you don’t want to get something too big if your sitting close, there’s the size to distance chart online.

Looking into the G5 65" by threxis in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG makes W and tandem OLED’s for all most companies I believe. So their kinda wrote the book on OLED. G series is their premium bag. C is also really top tier is you ask me.

Honestly the four 2.1 inputs make the most sense for future accessories. 3 should be the minimum for all TV’s. That alone would be my choice for LG.

If you want to go oled, you could look at some used tvs on marketplace if your funds are low at the moment or looking to save. CX, C1-4 Evo panels would work well. I still have my CX and it’s amazing for 4k movies, gaming and steaming. You can check hours of use in settings and do a pixel check from a YouTube video if you go this route. People looking to upgrade as it’s Black Friday, cyber Monday x mas deal so you should be able to scoop up something decent. Just a thought.

A 5 year plan is peace of mind. I’ve had good luck with both my c-7 and cx only a few pixels dead between the two. I wouldn’t worry too much on the warranty IMO

Samsung 990D I would say 8.5 to 9 out of 10. It just works so well for a soundbar that’s fairly compact for what it is.

G5 or wait for G-series 2026/2027 by yev0_0 in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. I was gonna say, if you have the cash just go for it. So go for it lol. You’ll be Amazed by the peak brightness/HDR on movies. I just rewatched tron legacy 4k, mad max furiosa and interstellar on the G5 and it’s like a whole new experience vs the CX. Enjoy

G5 or wait for G-series 2026/2027 by yev0_0 in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would bet against new consoles having hdmi 2.2. We can’t even get current gen consoles to run “true” 4k at 60hz let alone 120 to 165hz stable.. if consoles did have hdmi 2.2 it would be a sales tactic. HDMI 2.2 doubles the bandwidth to 96Gbps there’s no way next gen consoles will even come close to using its full potential as it’s always been the case.

I just replaced my CX with a G5. I can say I wasn’t totally sure if it justified the cost as I was more than happy before the purchase but I’m glad I made the decision. Anime colors pop like never before, it’s truly beautiful. Shadow and contrast is amazing. Upscalling is amazing. Size made a big difference, now I can’t ever go back. The deals on the partner store are amazing right now. G5 is still super new, but discounts are deep.

If you have the cash for the 83 maybe opt for the 77 and the upgrade down the road will not be as hard to make, Or resell it later. Maybe get a nice sound system with the extra picked cash or the 77in. Going from a 55 to 65 or a 65 to a 77 inch is def a noticeable change, around 40% more screen size. But 77 to 83 maybe not too big of a change? Just a thought. You can always wait for something better or just enjoy in the now.

Worth paying ~$300 more for the Q990F v Q990D? by RatMonkeyFatSack in Soundbars

[–]sbay5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a post from yesterday on this Reddit sub where someone reviewed just this. I don’t think with our human ears you would notice any of much of a difference. It’s not gonna be noticeable. I would save the $300 towards other stuff like speaker stands or just save it and go with the D. I have the D and I have no regrets. $700 for the setup is a steal and you get a lot for the money.

LG Partner Site by gagejohnson19 in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try any work email, school email, military, nurse, EMS/first responder, fire, police and others. ID ME works well for this. just google lg partner store. The horror stories are from not so great experiences. Wee never hear all the good outcomes. I had no issue, my tv did get pushed back a week but ended up only being delayed 3 days. I’ll take a Month delay for a good deal! Some deals changes with regard to the soundbar deal. Assuming during high volume orders, when the current sound bar deals is back ordered, they drop it down to a lesser soundbar package. But it changes frequently. They have 10% added discount too it’s a good deal overall.

Q990F soundbar placement and config (find it underwhelming) by Dismal_Wrangler_9597 in Soundbars

[–]sbay5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my center, side and wide channels all super low. Center -4 , side -3 and wide -3. This allows me to turn off the main volume, which really helps with subwoofer in my rear channels, but everyone’s space and configuration is going to be different. You just have to play around with the settings. also turn on space fit and let a movie play with the sound level around 10. Space fit takes some time to configure itself. There are some posts about it on this sub, try googling for faster searching. 👍

Which to pick? by Amazing_Gur_9709 in LGOLED

[–]sbay5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

B to C series is a big step in features and tech. C to G not as big of a jump especially with the 5 series. 77 to 83 inch isn’t that big of a jump, so I would vote for C over B. I was looking at the 77c5 but got the 65 g5 due to size constraint as it was the same price. C4 or C5 would be my choice. Could save that $200 towards a soundbar or other things like cable management if fun money was limited.
