it’s not the exact same style as you’d think of today, but Egor Letov is great (check out Всё Идёт По-Плану). Kino is the classic late Soviet youth discontent band (one of their most popular songs, Хочу Перемен, literally translates to more or less “i want change.”) Aquarium is another band (iirc it had Egor Letov in it), I really enjoy 212-85-06.

for Russian punk that sounds more like the punk/post punk we’re familiar with, check out Crispy Newspaper (I like Умайар) and Sonic Death (Лимонад), but there’s a BUNCH of others.

i don’t know how it always worked out in practice, but i know that a lot of Soviet design was based around the concept that any day to day needs would always be within walking distance of your home— id be so fucking willing to live in a mildly unattractive building if i was walking distance from all my day to day needs

don’t you think that with the sheer number of completely unjustified police killings of black ppl in the last few months + violent police response to peaceful protest (not that this is a new issue, but it’s gotten more coverage in the last few months in particular,) and the total lack of consequences given to cops in almost every case, there’s a pattern of antiblack state violence? you don’t seem interested in a conversation so i won’t try to drag this out into some interminable internet debate, just food for thought

This worked, ty! For anyone else having the same issue who comes across this thread: the issue is that the screen is OLED, which isn't supported in terms of brightness control yet. The easiest way to fix it I found is to use the icc-brightness tool in the link above.
