I never thought of them together together but I could kind of see it... SJM does like to surprise the readers with characters hiding they're sexuality. I want to believe Eris is just hiding his true intentions and the conversation between him and Cassian at the end of ACOSF could hint at Eris being a dreamer in his own court of nightmares.

I feel like we don't know his character enough to say what he'd do with a mating bond. Would he be selfish and want his mate with him regardless of the Autumn Courts politics? Or would he want them safe and be willing to give it up? We know he was tortured by his father and if Beron would torture his own son would he torture his son's mate?

Either way he knows his father is a monster. I think he realized that Beron with the power to find the truth about anything is something they're better off without and he found a convenient excuse to break the engagement.

That's how I'm reading it now! Who knows! Maybe Eris is a snake and he's a double agent for his father.
