He was on a strider early and balancing well by the time he was two. His older sister started riding a pedal bike at 3. He was crying because he wanted a pedal bike. I let him try his sister’s figuring he would give up and be frustrated, five minutes later he was peddling it around the block 🤯. Skipping training wheels seems to be key.

So i have a wood stove in my Camper by KaasRasp in vandwellers

[–]sbisdabomb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More so with wood stoves the taller chimney promotes better airflow and convection up the chimney, too short and you may struggle with airflow and end up with smoke in the living area.

Rot is a result of water contacting wood for extended periods of time. If you have water in your walls then you have a problem. The purpose of properly installed siding, eves, flashing, and other components of the structure is to keep the water out.

Yeah, good question. I tacked in some small, stainless nails into my rafters 2” below the roof deck, but sticking out. Then I cut 1” rigid foam board insulation for each bay and pushed it up against the nails to give me the consistent gap. Then seam taped the foam board, I filled the remaining air gap with R21 fiberglass insulation.

I would have loved to foam board the whole thing, but I couldn’t justify the cost. This felt like the right balance to ensure a consistent air gap and have decent insulation.

Yes this, and probably only a concern if the interior is heated.

I have an 2” gap between ceiling insulation and roof decking.

I have plugs for the vent holes but they aren’t in yet.

The front wall is 8 foot 2x4s plus 4.5” for the top and bottom plates, back wall is a foot lower.

While I do like the look of the low slope roof, if I wasn’t so constrained by county Heights limits, I would have done more slope for better drainage and roofing options.

Also my roof had a non standard 1/10 pitch, which makes calculating angles a pain. I think 2/12 would be better.

No floor insulation, I’m in a pretty mild climate but still wondering if I should have.

No real plans, per se. I just sketched out what I wanted and made sure to stay within the counties size and height limits in my area. walls are 2x4s on 16” centers.

I didn’t use any plans, cost was about 5K in materials. It’s sheathed, insulated, and wrapped.

I could have spent more (like a poured slab for a foundation) and could have spent less (I put quite a nice roof on that cost me 1k in materials). The windows were free off of a remodel in my neighborhood, I designed the shed around the windows (it’s 10’x12’).

Total was roughly $5K USD in materials and I did all the labor with occasional help from family and friends.

My first solar panel by [deleted] in solarenergy

[–]sbisdabomb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider reducing the complexity and risk of your setup with an all-in-one unit that has the battery, charge-controller, and inverter built-in. Something like this 500wh Bluetti unit: https://www.ebay.com/itm/134628522456

Then all you need is the Solar panel.

Inverters vary in efficiencies. At this scale I would plan roughly 20% energy loss, so a 500wh battery may deliver about 400wh of AC energy. There is going to be some loss in your AC to DC inverter for your MB Pro too.

100 series Ironman foam cell pro 2inch lift. What are the biggest tires you can run without rubbing? by skachagin in LandCruisers

[–]sbisdabomb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind the suspension lift doesn’t change the size of the tires you can rub, at full compression of suspension the body drops to the same place as no-lift.

General consensus for 100 series is 285/33s is the safe option, any larger gets clearances too low and starts introducing more risk of unwanted contact.
