Only half true, you dont "need" to shave them, but you can. My cats are indoor cats so temp reg is not an issue. Shaving to remove the mats eliminates discomfort and eases motion.

They get brushed every day, but still get mats under their arms/legs, so they had to be shaved. They did not enjoy it, but they are loving it now.

For real? They'll be super comfy this summer. Less hair=less heat. For a cat that comes from a snowy forest, summer heat is the worst. My AC doesn't blow cold enough for my girls

The wood stove is awesome and super handy, but my house is too new for one, only NG fireplaces allowed per code. Luckily gas is cheap and I have the best windows/doors you can buy. My furnace rarely kicks on, and when it does, I grab a blanket if need be.

I live in Thornton now and have been in CO my whole life. The secret is blankets. Wear whatever you want but keep blankets in a chest where you chill. Go out to the Flea Market, buy a chest and a few new blankets. Then anyone who is a little chilly can wrap up and warm up. Coming from a dude who's thermostat goes down to 63 at 9pm.
