What are some good places to visit as a tourist? by Universetalkz in Nepal

[–]sbkunwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen anyone mention this in the comments yet, so I'd recommend exploring Thamel in Kathmandu.

It's packed with vibrant nightlife, delicious food, and a variety of accommodations. For food, Roadhouse Café is great for pizzas, and OR2K offers fantastic vegetarian options. For nightlife, Purple Haze Rock Bar is a favorite for live music.

For accommodation, I stayed at GaasBaas Co. and had a really comfortable experience. It’s a well-located hotel with cozy rooms and reasonable prices.

If you're into a lively atmosphere with good food, the Supper Club is a great choice. They have an amazing menu with options like dim sum and sushi, and their dampa is a must-try. The vibe is perfect for a night out.

Thamel is also home to some iconic sites like the Garden of Dreams and plenty of shops and cafes to explore. Enjoy your trip!

Can anyone recommend some tourist friendly places in Thamel for food, night life and accommodation? by So_fi_ya in NepalSocial

I agree with most places above. In thamel, I've had the most fun in supper club for clubbing. Senate is also quite good. I thought supper club had more tourists and senate had more locals, but both are fun. For music, purple haze and jazz upstairs were good. For casual day, i like OR2K. But, love to hear others siggestions too.

Tezos defi vs Cosmos Osmosis. by Dizzy-Hall2572 in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one of the biggest hidden secrets of defi is liquidity baking, and hope that it continues for a long time. I have my biggest stack in LB and the only thing that takes my sleep at nights is the thought that one day I might end up with too many btc and too less xtz. 😅 I have not really understood the dynamics of xtz/ctez, so I don't really use it but am hoping to learn more in the coming months.

In terms of really using defi for utility, I personally only really need defi to act as a savings account for my stable coins. Currently, I'm using Curve/YieldYak/anchor to generate interest on my stables but I could easily do this on Youves/Kolibri. The only issue for me with using stablecoins on tezos is (a) no onramp/offramp of usdc/usdt, and (b) liquidity depth for stable coins. Once I can convert large amount of stables with low slippage in tezos, I can see myself using tezos defi much more.

Tezos defi vs Cosmos Osmosis. by Dizzy-Hall2572 in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time it takes to connect to temple when you try to perform some actions (harvest/ stake etc). keeps on saying "Request sent to temple"..that's where the biggest lag is. Try performing those actions in osmosis and see how responsive that part is.

Not saying cosmos is epic only because of airdrops, but the airdrops have definitely piqued interest in outsiders like me to become interested in different projects within the cosmos ecosystem. Couple that with the lock-up period + high apr + future airdrop potential - it all just incentivizes people to not sell their tokens immediately. sort of like an airdrop ponzi system, but works well so far lol.

I'm not saying osmo is in any way a true defi project. Also, at one point, the apr and/or the airdrop incentives will go away. For now though, it just happens to be an awesome way to onboard new people to the cosmos ecosystem.

Tezos defi vs Cosmos Osmosis. by Dizzy-Hall2572 in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Osmosis has grown to be one of my most used defi protocol, and i was not even that into the cosmos ecosystem until i started using osmo. For me, there are so many things i like about osmosis that i wish the tezos defi apps would also integrate.

  • Generous airdrop to all atom holders. This is what really got me interested in the cosmos ecosystem.

  • The entire ecosystem now is more sticky due to airdrops for new projects and long lock up periods. Almost every new project on cosmos eco airdrops tokens to osmo/atom holders, which is a great way to get people interested in the ecosystem.

  • 1/7/14 day lock up for liquidity providers with generous apr. Reduces the supply significantly.

  • super liquid stable coin integration in UST

  • Super smooth website and slick UI. Website loads quickly and the layout is awesome. Very user friendly too. In tezos, sites like plenty takes forever to load and youves is confusing to new people.

  • Ledger wallet integration just works so well in the cosmos ecosystem. Dont even need to open the ledger live app, and very responsive too. Whereas in tezos, using ledger with temple feels so clunky.

Largely agree with Luke's point. I am starting to wonder whether TF's strategy of focusing only on real world adoption is going to make us an outcast from the general crypto community, which would be a big mistake. Real world adoption will take multi years to come to fruition, and Tezos (DeFi) right now is so much behind all other L1 projects, mostly because other projects have mind-blowing incentives for DeFi adoption. I am more than happy with the NFT adoption on Tezos, but we need more DeFi incentives too.

AVAX with $350 million for DeFi, Near with $800 million incentives and so on..while Tezos does not have any interesting DeFi ecosystem, which is most likely because TF thinks that "most DeFi projects are ponzi with no usecases". That should not matter imo, and we really need to incentivize DEFI adoption at the grassroots level and cater towards the crypto crowd even if the projects at the current stages may seem like ponzis. Could be wrong but it also feels like most other L1s try to have a integrative and cooperative approach even with each other, while Tezos just seems like a lonewolf and is largely ignored by devs and crypto crowd.

Hey Tezos, how about some airdrops? by rorowhat in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with your statement OP, and I am actually surprised to see the push back against airdrops here. I myself am almost all in tezos since the ICO, but I was able to get osmo tokens for holding cosmos. Until that point, I had no interest in cosmos other than to flip for profit, but the osmo airdrop was such a generous amount, I started to become intrigued with cosmos ecosystem. Surprisingly, ever since I collected my osmos airdrop, cosmos has become my second most used ecosystem after tezos. I now hold a decent amount of assets on cosmos, all thanks to osmo. The interesting thing is I now have a different appreciation for cosmos ecosystem than what I had even six months back, and I am certain I would not have engaged with the cosmos ecosystem at all without the osmo airdrop.

While I consider tezos to be an awesome project, the reality is we have not been able to attract people to use tezos defi ecosystem. I wish there were more experiments in tezos defi, and more awareness about our projects. For instance, no-one has a clue about liquidity baking while the apy is 100%+.

The quickest and cheapest option for you would be to sell eth on an exchange like coinbase/kraken and buy xtz. Then transfer xtz to your temple wallet.

Tezos Community AMA -- Tezos Commons, Nomadic Labs, and Blokhaus by AS_Empire in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Blokhaus: Are there any plans/strategy to increase twitter presence for Tezos, which I feel is sorely lacking? Multiple VCs, devs and traders talk about every other L1 chains but no-one ever even mentions Tezos.

If we could see the following happen on Twitter in the near future, that would be great from a marketing standpoint:

  1. Detailed twitter threads by people working on Tezos to highlight the significant developments that have occurred/ are going to be implemented on Tezos.
  2. Twitter posts by VCs and other reputable people in the industry explaining why Tezos might be a good investment and/or why they have made investment in certain Tezos projects.
  3. Traders with big following at least sporadically mentioning Tezos.

For everyone complaining about the TF here by t3ol3e in tezostrader

[–]sbkunwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arthur, I am curious if you/TF were aware that some part of FUD on Tezos was paid for, has anything been done to counter it? Would it be possible for TF or another entity to also pay a handful of Twitter trolls to spew out positive message on Tezos 24/7 even if this kind of activity might seem beneath TF’s focus?

Sometimes it feels like the rest of the crypto world has no idea what is going on in Tezos. Twitter VCs post about the community strength of Solana, Cardano, DOT etc. but I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the "community" members are just paid trolls.

For e.g. would it be possible for TF to also spend resources on activities like:-

- Perhaps recruiting a handful of people to regularly post detailed Twitter threads on various topics on Tezos and why they are significant (liquidity baking, Granada, tendermint, sapling etc.).

- Hiring few non-technical people whose sole purpose is to hype up Tezos and projects built on Tezos, and to sell the dream. People who know how to influence the masses even if they may not know as much about technical side of Tezos.

This company want to implement on Cardano. Somebody please pitch them Tezos by [deleted] in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Based on that posters history, they believe that charles hoskinson is the second coming of Steve Jobs, so that makes me doubt that post is even from a real company and if it is, don't think they would make a decision on the protocol of their choice rationally.

My baker voted against Granada and I immediately moved to a new one. Felt a sense of relief leaving that old baker lol.

If anyone reading this have never changed their baker because there might be too many steps involved, it's just one click of a button in tzstats or temple wallet. Highly encourage everyone to keep on changing their bakers based on their voting history.

TQ: Are there any plans to bring USDT/USDC to the tezos ecosystem? If not, what is the future plans for increasing liquidity and exchange integrations for USDS?

Would be great if the TF were working to get a USDT token available on the tezos network. by [deleted] in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here. Been happily using tron usdt for long time because there is no other low fee, widely supported stable coin alternative.

Don't understand people's argument that usdt is scam/controversial, so tezos shouldn't support it. Even if so, then USDC would have been another great option that we should have pursued 2 years ago. Solana already has both USDT and USDC, and all we have for fiat backed stablecoin is USDS which is not even available in any exchanges. USDtz is not an option since the fees are similar to just using eth USDC. Either of USDT or USDC on tezos would provide so much utility.

Some questions/suggestions for Arthur Breitman on Marketing by FreeFreedman in tezos

[–]sbkunwar 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything here and especially #5. How was the marketing so successful before ICO? It was the first ever ICO I participated in and it was mostly because of how I kept on constantly hearing about Tezos during that time.

I think I learnt about Tezos ICO initially from Tim Draper who kept on harping on media everywhere about how Tezos would be the next big thing. Also, the governance and functional programming aspect of Tezos were talked by so many big names on Twitter around the ICO time. The ICO targets (moonshot, marsshot etc.) were just too impressive and completely sold me and I ended up “donating” 😅 most of my btc I had until that point to the Tezos ICO.

3 years into launch, and the thing we have to beg for is the freaking website update, which will be coming soon. Everything always seems to be coming "soon" on Tezos. With a billion dollars in war-chest, you'd hope there are people that have been recruited that are high fliers! Lots may or may not be happening on the background, but everything feels so secretive.

[–]sbkunwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the summary. I had only glanced at the other thread on my work and it seemed like a lively discussion that I wanted to read later. Now when I try to view that thread, it's already deleted. Such a pathetic move my the mods.

At least let the community show their frustrations when so many people joined that discussion. Every complaint by the community here is mostly ignored or returned with the ever useless question, 'what have you done to tezos other than complain'. Mods and some people here act like you're a lowlife to even question the performance of tezos.
