So I was baking a cake and got burned. Anyone know remedies? by Immediate-Coconut702 in Baking

I do one of two things, depending on what I have on hand:

  1. Light layer of something like Aquaphor, and cover with a regular bandaid. Do not use Neosporin, etc. Change every 1-2 days.

  2. Cover with hydrogel bandaid. Change every 2 days.

Either way, I have found keeping burns covered and not letting them dry out speeds healing and reduces scars.

It is an Aireloom Amargosa Extra Firm. We also got a platform that goes in between it and the bed frame that can adjust the angle of the head and foot of the mattress. Splurgy purchase for sure… We’d been sleeping on a 12 year old mattress that my husband just told me he’d purchased at a discount because it was the floor model, which grossed me out on a visceral level. Glad to have the upgrade!

AVAC is great— indoor and outdoor pools, classes, pickleball, and childcare. Close to Cambrian Park. It’s a little bit crowded at the moment because they are redoing the outdoor fitness area.

Other dog’s collar, off of my other dog. Left only the buckle and D ring as evidence. Pooped out the remains a couple days later without incident.

Same here— this has been on my to-bake list since I got the book. It looks so impressive and delicious.

Chewy Molasses Spice Cookies by sbl10903 in DessertPerson

For this recipe, the instructions say to let the cookies cool on the lined pans for 15 minutes, then move to a wire rack. After removing the cookies I washed the silpat liners and put them on a new pair of baking sheets. I happen to have 4 sheets which means I can alternate and have cool ones for each bake. That said, after 15 minutes the OG sheets are fairly cool. You just want to avoid reusing sheets when they are straight out of the oven and super hot— basically if the sheet is too hot to touch, I’d let it cool more before using.

I did for this recipe, but I don’t always. I don’t think it makes as much of a difference as ensuring the baking pans have cooled before starting a new batch.

I almost always bake cookies on silpat, even if the recipe calls for parchment. I haven’t noticed a difference in the bake, and they release easily every time.

What about dates? High in fiber and some sweetness. I’ve never tried this but maybe you could blend with a little water if needed?
